Washington Elementary Principal Volk Announces Retirement
Lisa Volk, who has been principal of Washington Elementary School since 2000, has announced her retirement, effective at the end of the current school year.
Volk started her Sedalia 200 career as a kindergarten teacher at Washington in 1994, a role she held until her promotion to principal of the school. She has become synonymous with the “little school with the big heart.”
“As I retire from Washington, I will leave with cherished memories, invaluable experiences, and friendships that have formed along the way. I have loved my time in the Sedalia 200 district,” she said. “Over the past 30 years, I have had over 7,000 students bless the halls of Washington Elementary, had countless families, and the unwavering dedication of an extraordinary staff. Together, we've created a legacy of shared moments, challenges overcome, and a community that will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
Sedalia 200 Superintendent Dr. Todd Fraley said, “With the retirement of Mrs. Volk, both Washington Elementary and the Sedalia School District will be losing a true legend. Mrs. Volk has left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten and has made an incredible impact on the Sedalia community.” Over her three decades in Sedalia 200, Volk has witnessed the significant growth of the district. “The district is one of resilience, innovation, and a collective team that continues to work for the betterment of our student body,” she said. “Here's to the continued growth and the bright future ahead.”
