Super Bowl XLVII is coming and will feature the Baltimore Ravens from the AFC against the San Francisco 49ers from the NFC.  Much is already being made on the two head coaches as John and Jim Harbaugh are brothers. There is also additional attention on this being Ray Lewis’ farewell game after his long career.

There has been a lot of talk about the flu lately.  The CDC has called it an epidemic.  Doug posted a list of places you can get your flu shot if you would like one.  I haven't gotten mine and don't intend to.  I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but I haven't gotten the flu shot in over 20 years and I've been fine.  It is your choice though.

I remember a time when some neighbors and I decided to get together for dinner.  We decided that we would light the grill and they would bring a dish to pass.  Imagine our surprise when our neighbors were on the doorstep at noon for our gathering.

Kids, I don't know about you, but I heard a lot about New Year's Resolutions before this month.  Now it seems like I don't hear anything.  Which, of course, makes me wonder - are you keeping yours?  Or are you just quietly ignoring them and not keeping them at all?

The Sedalia #200 School Board met at Smith Cotton High School Monday night (Dec. 17).  While there were other items on the agenda, the one that brought more than 40 parents to the meeting was the “Security and Safety Update.”

This is just about the perfect time for holiday burnout.  We've been going strong since Thanksgiving, we're deep in the middle of unavoidable holiday oversaturation, and there are still two weeks until Christmas.

The last two weeks before Christmas is always full of last minute shopping and getting things ready for Dec. 25. One of the great traditions that is done at about this point is the annual end of the year letter with a Christmas card, which is usually the end of the year family photo.

We are less than 20 days away from Christmas, and the retail industry is still abuzz over much improved sales over 2011. This week I visited several stores to get my Christmas shopping started.  All of the store employees I talked to all said business was staying brisk this year. It got me to thinking; when you go holiday shopping, what city do you like to go shopping in?
