Now that your Christmas is over, you've got a little something to deal with, don't you: that tree! The Missouri Department of Conservation is working with the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative and the City of Sedalia to help you recycle your Christmas tree.
Last Saturday (Sept. 30), Kevin Walker and I had the opportunity to judge the contests at the 2nd Annual Bark in the Park event at Liberty Park in Sedalia. There were a ton of great dogs there and we had a great time meeting them all!
A lot of great stuff seems to be going on with our Sedalia Parks Department, and this weekend, they're working with the Sedalia Kennel Club. Their creative minds always seem to find something new and fun to do, not just for the kids, but for the whole family! That's truly evidenced by this weekend's event for Bark in the Park!
There are some great events going on this weekend for the bikers out there! Not only is there going to be a big rally on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, but there's also going to be a big event going on at Liberty Park.
Thousands of kids from low-income families in Pettis County qualify for free school lunches. The problem is when school is out on long weekends or holiday breaks, many of these kids go hungry. The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri is helping to break that alarming trend with the Buddy Pack. A Buddy Pack is three to five pounds of food that is kid friendly and nutritious. Buddy packs will be given to children in need of food on Fridays before a break from school, like long weekends or holiday breaks.
Kids, this weekend was a great chance for folks to take a second and say thanks. And thanks they did, in droves! The 4th Annual Firefighters Memorial Bike Ride was last Saturday. I was there early at Liberty Park, and Kevin Walker was there to take pictures.
Shortly before 6 a.m. this morning (June 17), the Sedalia Police STING Unit and other officers served a search warrant at 1902 Liberty Park Blvd. Two suspects were found at the residence. A search of the residence revealed marijuana, drug packaging supplies a digital scale and several thousand dollars’ worth of illegal prescription pills. Officers also seized three vehicles and $4400 in cash.
The 3rd Annual Sedalia Firefighters Memorial Ride was this Saturday. I got to go and spend the morning with the bikers! All told, it was a great success. They had over 200 people pre-register, and at least 50 registered that day.
