The snow is melting and the temperature is starting to rise. I'm about ready for some old fashioned thunderstorms with steady rain through the week, then sunny on the weekend followed by more rain. That would do me fine.
I have the opportunity to see a lot of concerts with my job. Every now and then, one will stand out among all the others. Luke Bryan's show in Columbia is one that goes on the list of "best concerts I've ever seen."
Dierks Bentley has will be swinging by The Blue Note in Columbia, Mo. this summer. The "5-1-5-0" and "Tip It on Back" hitmaker is scheduled to play live on 9th Street in Columbia on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
Kids, this past weekend I was in Columbia, Mo. I know a lot of you are familiar with the general vicinity and have probably been there several times over your tenure. I have been there I don't know how many times, but for some reason I had never heard of a country wide phenomena called The Magic Tree. Apparently since I'm a big humbug who will refuse to put up a tree in my own home, I thought it would be nice to at least spread a little decorative cheer that someone else put up.
We are less than 20 days away from Christmas, and the retail industry is still abuzz over much improved sales over 2011. This week I visited several stores to get my Christmas shopping started. All of the store employees I talked to all said business was staying brisk this year. It got me to thinking; when you go holiday shopping, what city do you like to go shopping in?

As the host of the Red Dirt Music Hour, I get to listen to a lot of music that isn't on the main stream charts. One of the bands that really has my attention is The Josh Abbott Band.
Josh graduated from Texas Tech and decided he wanted to be a performer one night at a Randy Rogers Band concert. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Smith-Cotton Football Tigers look for their first victory of the season on Friday, September 7 as they travel to Columbia to take on the Hickman Kewpies.
