I remember a time when some neighbors and I decided to get together for dinner. We decided that we would light the grill and they would bring a dish to pass. Imagine our surprise when our neighbors were on the doorstep at noon for our gathering.
This is just about the perfect time for holiday burnout. We've been going strong since Thanksgiving, we're deep in the middle of unavoidable holiday oversaturation, and there are still two weeks until Christmas.
Everyone is happy to see a visiting loved one. Families are scattered throughout the country and world for many reasons. The holidays are a time when we get together with people we don't get to see on a daily, weekly, monthly or sometimes yearly basis. These are meaningful people in our lives and being together with them during the holidays is a heartwarming idea. Until that day comes.

I'm one of those people that believe Christmas decorations should not be put up until after Thanksgiving. I enjoy the holidays, but I also like for them to have a special feeling. I think we lose some of that when we start seeing stores display Christmas merchandise after the day after Halloween. Some retailers have had their displays up for weeks already. I recently found a costume of a sexy hamburger online. I found it to be ridiculous. Then I started thinking about other costumes that don't need to be made sexy.
