Sedalia's been looking for something to do to get outside after such a wet spring. The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s 5K Glow Run/Walk, held Friday, June 13, was lucky to have brilliant weather!   I know that we were a little worried about how things would turn out after our Live Broadcast on Thursday - but Sedalia was excited to help the Boys and Girls Club!

More than 400 people participated in the inaugural Glow Run, which took place under a full moon on the campus of State Fair Community College. People of all ages ran and walked in their best “glow swag” including glow-in-the-dark necklaces, rings, bracelets, even a few neon tutus.  They had decided to mix things up this year, and try to do something different that Sedalia hadn't seen before.  The Club previously held its annual 5K, 10K and half-marathon “Race 4 Reasons” but decided this year to bring a new, family-friendly event to Sedalia.  Even those who didn’t run the course got in on the glow run action with the Club’s children’s area, with glow-in-the-dark dancing, crafts and other activities. Parents were able to drop children off, run in the event, and pick them up afterward.  The best part of all of it was the fact that all that fun went to such a great cause and was so incredibly helpful! The Club raised approximately $13,000 from the run, which will be used to continue operations and programs.  Here's a few photos of the fun they had!

Glowingly yours,
Behka
