Little Big Town, Others Celebrate the 2017 Solar Eclipse at the Opry [Watch]
The Grand Ole Opry throw one heck of a solar eclipse party! The iconic country music venue was the place to be over the weekend — they hosted five shows leading up to 2017’s total eclipse on Monday (Aug. 21).
The Opry is one of many locations in Nashville, Tenn., in the direct path of the eclipse.
Sunday’s (Aug. 20) show included an A-list lineup of performances by Little Big Town, Wynonna Judd, Darius Rucker and Charles Esten. Nash Country Daily was on hand to capture some of the set, including a nearly three-minute video of LBT performing their emotional new single “When Someone Stops Loving You,” Judd singing “Cool Ya,” Rucker belting his new radio single “For the First Time” and Nashville‘s Charles Esten joining forces with his colleague Clare Bowen for the emotional “Sanctuary.”
Sunday’s show was a special occasion, as Opry performances are normally only held on Fridays and Saturdays, with Tuesday night shows through Dec. 12 and Wednesday shows returning for a fall run on Sept. 13.
In addition to the star lineup, Good Morning America’s chief meteorologist Ginger Zee and the Weather Channel’s Jen Carfagno shared duties as guest announcers. The Opry continues its celebration with a Total Eclipse Plaza Party featuring Levon and Ashley McBryde on Monday.
