Missouri is the best BBQ state in the US, but the debate between St. Louis BBQ and Kansas City BBQ just got a little more interesting. Yelp's "elite" team ranked St. Louis's best BBQ restaurant ahead of Kansas City's best BBQ restaurant, did they get it right...?

Yelp has a list on its website called the Top 20 Barbecue Spots in the US According to Yelp Elites, they have the best bbq spot in St. Louis ranked ahead of the best bbq spot in Kansas City.

The highest-ranking bbq spot on their list from Missouri is a place called Pappy's Smokehouse in St. Louis, it ranks 6th on the list behind places like Franklin BBQ in Austin ranked number one, and Hae Jang Chong in Los Angeles ranked 4th. Further down on the list at number 17, you will find a place called Jack Stack Barbecue - Freight House in Kansas City.

Now what makes this fun and controversial to me is that by definition you have to say according to this ranking the BEST BBQ spot in all of MISSOURI is in St. Louis...BUT... There is a restaurant in Kansas City called Joe's KC BBQ (very famous) and it is ranked 5th overall on the list, but that restaurant is located on the Kansas side of Kansas City, not the Missouri side...

You can see how this fun debate rages on...I will just say that while it is a technicality that one is located in Kansas and not Missouri it doesn't change the fact that if you are in St. Louis or Kansas City (no matter which state) you are in line for the best BBQ on the planet.
