Who Knew Making a Prison Break in MO Could be This Challenging?
So you're sitting in a prison in Missouri and you're trying to get out. You've come up with a way to make a dash and ultimately you could see daylight outside the prison walls. Sound like a new plot for a made-for-TV movie? Nope, it's what's going in Jefferson City for Prison Break 2021 at the MO State Penitentiary.
Has your mind ever wandered one time or another thinking to yourself what it would be like to break out of prison, and not just any prison. One with out running water, daylight, or contact with anyone on the outside world. In fact a penitentiary that 's been decommissioned for 180 years. If this has crossed your mind, this may be your chance to act it out. On August 28th, Jefferson City Athletic Events Committee is going to give you that opportunity with the Prison Break!
It takes place Saturday, August 28 with gates opening at 7 a.m. and starting at 8 a.m. at the Missouri State Penitentiary, 115 Lafayette St Jefferson City, MO.
Runners will set out on a 3+ mile course that will test every facet of their athleticism. Breaking out of prison isn't easy, and this course won't be either. Expect the unexpected-hilly terrain combined with a slew of obstacles will be featured at every turn before the conclusion. For more information on the race contact visitjeffersoncity.com.
There's also a junior version of the Prison Break Race for boys and girls ages 6-17 as you crawl through mud pits and slide down a huge slip n’ slide! It's also on Saturday, August 28. Runners will face over 15 obstacles along the 2.5 mile course. For more information contact jcparks.com.
