What I Know About The Ludacris Show Coming to the Missouri State Fair
Guys, I know a lot of us are super excited for the concerts at the State Fair every night we have them.
But, let's be real. We've had a lot of Country acts, a lot of Rock acts, a lot of Christian acts...but we haven't had a lot of Rap or Hip Hop concerts. So it can be a little confusing to know what to expect.
Is it going to be a party night that might get dirty? Or is it going to lean more on his cleaner image as a movie star? After all, he's in State Farm ads now. He's got three kids, and he did start up Kid Nation. That site is pretty useful for young ins'. According to USA Today, it's pretty family focused.
KidNation, which uses music videos with young kids rapping positive pieces of advice to provide "a fun, safe, and educational media platform” for children. "Get Along" teaches kids to lead with love, focusing on acceptance and inclusivity amid the nationwide protests against racism, while "Stay Clean" reminds kids to wash their hands – both of which are extremely catchy, regardless of how old you are.
He's probably making moves like Snoop Dogg did, where he's expanding his empire as he's getting older and maturing.
But, everything I remember of Ludacris and his music was that he was definitely an outspoken lyricist who....did not hold back, to put it politely. I mean, I did a quick Google, and "Ludacris Breaks Down 7 Of HIs Raunchiest Songs" is one of the first articles that comes up! Admittedly, he was always super smart and witty, and even a little funny in his lyrics, but he never did hold back from a dirty image or profanity.
So. What are we going to get? Are we getting Kidnation Luda or Dirty South Ludameister? I decided to see if I could find out.
I looked up where he's been and where he's going on his tour this year. So far, he's been to a lot of nice theaters and Fairgrounds. In fact, he's going to the Alaska State Fair right after he's doing our show. And then the Minnesota State Fair and the Oregon State Fair after that. I figured, somebody's gotta have written up a show review, gotten a set list, SOMETHING.
I found the setlist from the show he did on July 26th at the York State Fair in Pennsylvania. And from what I can see, it's a pretty balanced set. One of the main songs early in the set only came in the 2000's.
And of course, he's doing the big hits.
I won't spoil too much, but there are definitely some surprises in the set list. Pleasant surprises. There are some covers, songs you know, party moving stuff.
From what I can see, overall, it looks like it's going to be a night for the adults. I don't know if he'll be censoring his lyrics onstage, but I doubt it. Looking at it, without spoiling it, I can tell you, it looks like it's going to be ONE HELL OF A PARTY.
A party with CUSSIN.
And isn't that what we need on a Friday at the State Fair? .
