Old houses scheduled for demolition at King and McGoodwin streets recently became part of valuable training exercises March 10-17 to benefit the local community thanks to a cooperative effort between the University of Central Missouri and the Warrensburg Fire Department.

With UCM planning to expand parking west of Audrey  J. Walton Stadium this fall, it used the opportunity to provide structures that are located on seven recently acquired properties to help teach firefighting techniques to the Fire Department’s full- and part-time employees. Through hands-on simulation experiences throughout the week, first responders learned about firefighter survival and rescue, what it was like to be inside a structure filled with smoke, how to safely use ladders and deploy water hoses, understanding  positive and negative pressure ventilation, and much more.

The Mules golf team shot an opening round three-over par 291 and sits in second place, five shots out of the lead at the UCO Broncho Invite by RCB Bank at Gaillardia Country Club. Tuesday's final round will get underway at 8:30 a.m.  Travis Mays led the Mules with a one-under par 71 and currently sits in a tie for sixth place.

The Jennies Golf team shot a final round 340 and jumped up to eighth place at the Holiday Inn Express/Missouri Western Invite at the St. Joseph Country Club. The Jens finished the two-day tournament with a score of 669.

The fourth-ranked Jennies Bowling team will find out their NCAA Postseason fate on Wednesday, March 25 at 3 p.m. CST when the NCAA Bowling Selection Show airs on NCAA.com.

Fans are invited to Traditions Restaurant in the Audrey J. Walton Clubhouse at Pertle Springs to watch the selection show with the Jennies. Appetizers will be provided.
The Jennies are 83-38 this season and have been ranked in the top 10 in every National TenPin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll this year. They are one of just two teams that have been selected for every NCAA Championship since they began in 2004.
