Two Arrested in Disturbance Behind Sedalia Restaurant

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Limit Avenue for a disturbance on Thursday night around 9:30.

Officers contacted a male and female in the back of the parking lot of a fast food restaurant.

The male, Derek B. Hughes, 33, of Sedalia, had active warrants for Probation Violation on original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

During a search incident to arrest, Hughes was found to be in possession of heroin. Contraband was observed in plain view inside of the subject's vehicle. Further search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, and several items of drug paraphernalia indicating the two subjects were distributing drugs.

Samantha L. Batzel, 33, of Windsor, was arrested on charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Hughes was arrested pending charges of Trafficking Drugs in the 1st Degree, Possession of Opium/Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and his Probation Violation warrant.
