Sacred Heart High School has three more student-athletes committing to playing college sports.

Cody Damlo is committing to  College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout MO. He plans to run track for Coach McKenzie Larkin. He plans to prepare academically to become a firefighter.  The small school atmosphere will allow Cody to mimic his time in high school where he was involved with multiple teams and groups.

Cody advanced to sectional track as a Sophomore and Junior. For football, As a Senior, he was on the KMZU Dream Team, All-District Defensive Back and Wide Receiver, All-Conference Defensive Back and Wide Receiver, and All-Conference Honorable Mention Kick Returner. He was also named to All-Conference in track and baseball, this spring.

When asked what he will miss the most about Sacred Heart, Cody responded: “I will miss how much the teachers cared, how cooperative everyone was with each other, and the easy connection to my friends.”

Grace Goodwin is committing to State Fair Community College where she will play for Coach Kevin Bucher. Grace is anxious to meet her new team and play her favorite sport close to home.

Her 3.9 Grade Point Average is evidence that her time at Sacred Heart has prepared her for the classwork that will come with college. Grace said that she will miss stepping onto local courts and fields to represent Sacred Heart on various teams.

In basketball, Grace has been on the KMZU dream team all four years, All-conference and All-district. She has been in the Missouri Round-ball Magazine, which highlights the top area players, the last two years. She finished with over 1000 career points and holds the school record for most points scored in a game at 43.

In Volleyball Grace was selected to All-Conference and All-District teams as a Junior and Senior. She earned Academic All-State all four years.

Zaine Dover is committing to play baseball at Columbia College for Coach Darren Munns. Zaine chose Columbia College because he has always wanted to play baseball, in college and this was his best option. He said he is most looking forward to actually pitching at the next level. Sacred Heart has whetted his appetite to learn more about history. Zaine said, “Sacred Heart prepared me for the next step by pushing you to be the best you can in sports and in education. The thing I will miss the most about Sacred Heart is seeing my friends every day and also competing with my friends on the court or diamond.

Some of the honors that Zaine received: For Basketball  the KMZU dream team, All-district, All-conference, and state farm athlete of the week. For baseball:    All-Conference as a Junior and Senior.
