Do you know where the only fire department is in the United States that's only fully operational for 11 days a year? That would be The Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department. And they're looking for volunteers for all positions for the 2021 Missouri State Fair.

The Department is staffed with 75 dedicated volunteers 24 hours a day throughout the State Fair providing fire suppression and advanced life support emergency medical services for fair goers, fair vendors, fair campers and State Fair employees.

The Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department is operated by members of the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri. And they are accepting applications from people who would like to serve on the fire department during the Missouri State Fair from August 11 - August 22.

In order to serve on the Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department applicants must be a members of the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri, must provide the name of their home fire department and their Chief. And must choose what days they can serve on the fair's fire department.

Most shifts start at 8:00AM CDT, with the exception of the Wednesday August 11 shift, which starts at 6:00PM CDT. Firefighters can choose whether they want to work on an Engine Company, work EMS, dispatch, inspection, kitchen or fire safety education. Junior firefighters may work dispatch only.

Applicants are expected to accept assignments willingly, and other duties may be assigned. If the dates you'd like to work are full you will be contacted about working other dates.
