Twisters

It was one of the stormiest Memorial Day weekends in recent memory through much of Missouri as multiple tornadoes caused big damage including a nearly half-mile wide EF-3 twister that was captured by multiple chasers in southern Missouri.

Severe weather overnight in Missouri included a monster tornado in Sullivan that leveled several buildings to the ground as video reveals this morning.

How strong is your love? One Missouri couple can rightfully say their marriage is stronger than a tornado after they made the promise to spend a lifetime together after a twister ripped the roof off of their wedding place before the service even began.

I've been in and through the St. Louis, Missouri airport many times in my lifetime, but I've fortunately never experienced what everyone in those terminals did on this day 13 years ago when monster tornadoes devasted the St. Louis area including a direct hit on the airport.

Thanks to improving weather technology, we now have more warning than ever when Missouri is about to get slammed by a tornado. You would be wise to also pay attention to nature as many believe that birds know before weather radars when tornado danger is imminent.

I haven't seen official confirmation from the National Weather Service in St. Louis yet, but a truck's dashcam video appears to show a tornado in a field near Vandalia, Missouri on Thursday.

I find weather intriguing yet understand very little about it and this is a great example. I've learned there are 10 Missouri towns that are more likely to get hit by a twister than any others.

Despite what my children believe, I was not around in 1957. There was one weather event that year in Missouri that has sadly been forgotten by many, but not the people of the Kansas City area who were nearly wiped off the map by a monster EF-5 killer twister.

If weather patterns continue to change the way many meteorologists are predicting, Missouri should brace itself for terrible twisters once Spring begins in 2024.

Missouri has seen some historic and tragic tornadoes, but few can rival a twister that tore through St. Louis in the Spring of 1896. It was so fierce it even blew steamboats out of the river.
