A woman in Sacramento, California is about to become the cigarette butt of many jokes.

The Sedalia City Council met in the council chambers of City Hall for a work session Monday night (April 29). There were three items on the agenda, but the one that drew the capacity crowd to the chamber was the proposal that would make Sedalia a smoke-free city.

The Sedalia City Council is looking at drafting an ordinance that would ban smoking in public places.  There are already numerous cities that have drafted similar ordinances that ban smoking in public places, including restaurants and bars across our country and in Missouri. As a role model for kindness and generosity, you can't do much better than Santa. But let's face it -- he's not exactly the picture of health. If the jolly old elf can't bring himself to drop a few pounds, at least he's recently given up smoking.
