4th of July

American popular music has been around since before America even declared its independence. 'Yankee Doodle,' anyone? That classic was sung by Colonial American soldiers as early as the French and Indian War. Here’s a list of 10 to add to your Fourth of July playlist:

You have seen them popping up all over: bright tents that hold all of the goodies that your little pyro heart desires. It's that time of year again, and many of you will flock to a firework tent here in the area to purchase some fireworks. What would the 4th of July be without fireworks?

With the 4th of July quickly approaching, the Sedalia Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Sedalia that buying, selling, displaying and shooting fireworks is prohibited within the city limits.  Violating the fireworks ordinance can result in a $109 fine and potentially some time in jail.

It’s time for Sedalia to make plans for the 4th of July celebrations again this year, there are two events that will make the planning easier.

This year's 4th of July is going to be a booming celebration! Tim McGraw will partner up with Mariah Carey to headline the 2013 Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. Setting off fireworks is illegal within the city limits of Sedalia, and the Pettis County Sheriff's Office and Fire Departments urge you not to set off your own fireworks this 4th of July.  They suggest you attend the public display at the Missouri State Fairgrounds instead.  That's good advice.  And like all good pieces of advice, there will be people that won't follow it.  Here are a few tips so

Country music superstar Alan Jackson will help some deserving military families celebrate July 4th a little bit early this year. According to a post on Jackson’s website, the singer is slated to perform this coming Saturday (June 30) at Fort Sill, Okla. to kick off the military installation’s patriotic festivities.
