Suspect Arrested in Pettis County Shooting, Second Still Sought
A suspect has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of Leon Hinckley.
The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says 23-year-old Branden Lee Hendren, of Independence, is one of two suspects in the August 17 shooting just outside the Sedalia City Limits at the Sunset Village Trailer Park.
The Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office has also filed charges on 29-year-old Ronald Maurice Cage of Kansas City in connection to the homicide. The Sheriff's Office says Cage's arrest is pending, anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement.
Deputies were called to the trailer park on August 17 and found Hinckley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center by the Pettis County Ambulance District, where he later died of his injuries. Two suspects, described as a black male driver and a white male passenger, were reportedly observed leaving the scene in a black 4-door car with a sunroof. During the investigation, a black 2012 Chevrolet Impala, which is believed to have been involved in the crime and also reported stolen from Sedalia, was recovered by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office in Lexington.
