Scotty McCreery's third single from his 2018 album Seasons Change features what have become classic McCreery vocals, powerful drums and strong guitarwork. In the coming-of-age song, the artist describes the things that make him who he is and how they're often contradictory: He finds that he is half one thing and half another -- right in between.

"In Between" is an apt representation of McCreery's Seasons Change as a whole. The project, which came after a five-year break, explores themes of personal growth and self-reflection, and is the performer's most autobiographical release to date. To learn more about "In Between," in McCreery's own words, read on.

I wrote this four years ago, [in 2015]. It was me, Jessi Alexander, Frank Rogers and Jonathan Singleton. So, my job that day was to not screw it up.

We were just talking about life that day, and kind of where I was at when I was 21, 22 years old, and it was just a conversation. We didn't have a title or hook or anything, and we were just kind of talking, and the song came out that way.

It's about life and balance and knowing who you are.
