Growing up in the Chicago area and watching the Chicago Cubs, it was very common to not only see the St Louis Cardinals play against us (we are in the same division) but to root against them.  Usually it was because the team was so much better than us, and won more consistently.  But even I have to acknowledge the way that organization is run.  And in 1982 St Louis brought the World Series trophy home.

In honor of its 40th Anniversary this season (if there will be one, as the players and owners are not speaking and the players are locked out) Ozzie Smith will be organizing this reunion.  The infield of Ken Oberkfell, Tommy Herr, Keith Hernandez and Ozzie will all be together once again.

There will be a celebration at Ballpark Village February 17th.  Manager Whitey Herzog will also be there as well as moderator Joe Buck.  Joe's father, Hall of Fame broadcaster Jack Buck, called the final out of the 1982 World Series.

To put in perspective how good this infield was, between Ozzie and Keith, they have 24 Gold Gloves.  24!  Defense still plays a big part in baseball and these two were two of the best.

Tickets are $100 for general admission and available at http://www.ozzieandfriends.com.

All proceeds will benefit PGA Reach Gateway. Smith serves as president of the organization, which helps keep kids in North St. Louis in school, making the game of golf more accessible to children, while also helping disabled veterans reintegrate into society.

This sounds like a very nice way to bring everyone together and have a good time, reminisce and do it for a good cause.  As a baseball fan, I can appreciate greatness whenever I see it.  This infield was really good.  Almost as good as the 2016 Cubs.  :)
