The Smith-Cotton Tiger Battalion JROTC Drill Team has been accepted to compete on April 1st, in the 2017 U.S. Army JROTC National Drill Championships in Louisville, Ky.

According to the event organizers, the championships “allow the finest programs in the world to compete in drill and ceremony competitions in order to crown a national champion in one of several competition levels and divisions. Color guard, regulation drill, unit inspection and the crowd-pleasing exhibition drill competitions are all segments of this national event,” according to a press release from the Sedalia 200 School District.

Smith-Cotton JROTC Senior Army Instructor Lt. Col. (Ret.) Harry Cunningham said: "We are thrilled that the Smith-Cotton JROTC Drill Team will be able to compete in the Army National Championships again this year. The team has worked very hard this year to be the best Army JROTC drill team in the nation, and we're grateful to Sedalia 200 School District and the entire community of Sedalia for making this possible."
