A free community event is being offered on Saturday, May 30 called a Native Grassland Celebration and Learning Opportunity.
The event will start at 8:30 a.m., with field trips, followed by lunch at 11. There will be learning sessions between 11:30 a.m., and 2:45 p.m. The sessions will take place at the Heckart Community Center, 1800 W. 3rd Street.
Choose from three tracks – Local Landscapes, Food Production and Community Science.
The field trips will be to public and private grassland areas just south of Sedalia, with exact locations to be announced later.
They will focus on the ecology of plants and animals, as well grassland management for landowners and producers.

The event is hosted by the Missouri River Bird Observatory, Conservation Federation of Missouri, Audubon Certified Bird Friendly Land, USDA Farm Service Agency, Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever, Missouri Rural Crisis Center and the Missouri Prairie Foundation.
