State Fair Community College is slated to host a Scream, Shout & Run It All Out 5K on October 12 to benefit the Pettis County United Way.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on the Sedalia campus; with sign-in at 7:00 a.m. The proceeds will benefit the Pettis County United Way annual campaign that provides solutions to hunger, childhood development and mental health issues. The United Way identified those 3 issues as the top concerns of Sedalia/Pettis County residents after conducting a survey earlier this year.

“SFCC values people and wellness in the community it serves,” said Polly Grapes, SFCC’s United Way team member. “We think the 5K is a fun way to promote mental and physical wellness by having fun and running out some stress while raising money to support our local United Way initiatives.”

Participants can now register for the 5K online at sfccbooks.com.

Participants who register by September 13 will receive a free T-shirt and swag bag. The cost is $15 per youth (children under 13) and $25 per adult.

The cost after September 13, is $20.00 per youth and $30.00 per adult.

The 5K is Halloween themed.

SFCC says prizes will be awarded in both youth and adult categories for best, scariest and funniest costumes and Judge’s Choice. Additional prizes will also be awarded for group/family and couple/pair.
