The City of Warrensburg Police and Fire will host a Blood Drive with the Community Blood Center.

It’ll be held on Friday, September 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   They’ll take blood at the Warrensburg Community Center, 445 East Gay Street, in the Conference Room. For questions, call 800-245-7035.

Scudda Hoo Festival Held in Downtown Sedalia This Weekend

A parade will kick off the festivities on Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m.  Look for a vast display of mule teams from across the state, along with horses, floats, military contingents, marching bands, vintage 1940′s cars and many Hollywood look-alikes. Take a tour of the historic Monsees mule barn and breeding facilities, now owned by John & Cathy Hammons.  View the entries for the youth barn photo contest.  Admire our beautiful blue jeans model contest & vote for your favorite and don’t miss the Blue Jeans Ball.  Take the little ones to the Kid’s Barnyard activity area or on a wagon ride. See what all the hubbub is about.  Be sure and join us in the screening of the original 'Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!' full length movie in an downtown setting.

The Queen of the Prairies Music Series will feature local musicians.

 It’ll take place on September 13th from 7 to 10 pm upstairs at Fitters Fifth Street Pub in Sedalia.  The event will accept a combination open mic and featured local-area musicians. Admission is free. For all of the details call James at 660 553 4572 or visit oicstudios.com
AnimalFAIR has dogs & puppies available for adoption. 
Their next adoption event is on Saturday, September 14 at the Tractor Supply Company from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  All are really great, healthy, young dogs completely vetted and ready for a loving home. One Saturday September 14th, the Sedalia Kiwanis Club will sponsor a child seat safety event. 
The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the front parking lot of the main branch of Third National Bank located at 301 West Broadway. Car seat specialists with the Sedalia Police Department, the Sedalia Fire Department and the Pettis County Health Center will help parents correctly install child car safety For more information contact Dave Kelley at 660-826-8218.
Nathan’s Quest is the 7th annual Run/Walk to fight childhood cancer.
It’ll be on September 14 at the UCM Soccer Fields with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m.  The Start time is 9:00 a.m.   For more information, go to www.nqccf.org.

People with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers are invited to attend a free Parkinson’s Disease Patient and Caregiver Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center at 3300 Vandiver Drive in Columbia.

Sponsored by MU Health Care’s Movement Disorders Program, the seminar will address movement symptoms and signs, emotional well-being and strategies for patients and caregivers, planning ahead with Parkinson’s disease, and the latest developments in diagnosing and treating the disorder. In addition to Asher, presenters at the event include Thorkild Norregaard, M.D., a neurosurgeon at MU Health Care; Stephanie Reid-Arndt, Ph.D., a psychologist specializing in rehabilitation neuropsychology and associate dean of the MU School of Health Professions; Jeffrey Tarrant, Ph.D., a psychologist with the MU Student Health Center who specializes in biofeedback and stress management; Marilyn Beeson, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., clinical social worker at University Hospital; and Patsy Dalton, a Parkinson’s disease support group leader.  On Saturday, September 14 the Show Me Sound Chorus will present S.P.A. Day.

Women of all ages and vocal skills are invited to a day of harmony and fun.  Learn a song in 4 part acapella style, then perform for a live audience.  Lunch will be provided.  The event will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Northside Christian Church of Warrensburg.  For more information, or to register, call Connie Homoly at 660-422-6948. The Sedalia Lions Club presents the 1st annual Compact Figure 8 Scramble and Tuff Truck Challenge.

It’ll be held on September 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the State Fair Arena on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.  They’ll have a $20 entry fee per class, and $20 rider fee for the Figure 8 only.  General admission for adults is $8, and for kids 5-12 is $5.  A Pit Pass is available for $12.  For more information, contact Donnie Hunter at 660-596-5094 or Terri Hunter at 660-596-5093.

The Bethel Family Church will be paying for gas on Sunday, September 15.

They’ll be at the Fav Trip in Sedalia from 2-4 p.m. only, or until the money runs out.  They’ll be paying $5 on any gas purchase.  For more information, go to www.bethelfamilychurch.org/gas

The LaMonte United Methodist Church will have a chili supper and theme basket auction.

It’ll take place on Sunday September 15.  The event will be held at the LaMonte United Methodist Church at 400 North Main in LaMonte.  Serving chili, hot dog and chili dog meals from 5:00 -6:45 p.m.  with the auction at 7:00 p.m.   The proceeds will go to the Children’s Sunday School Department.  Tickets may be purchased at the door for $5.

The St Paul's Lutheran Church at 301 E Broadway Blvd are having a community baby shower.

Do you have a new baby in the family? Let us celebrate with you! Come to St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sedalia on Sunday, September 15 at 3:00 p.m. We’ll play new baby games, have gifts for you and your baby and then enjoy some light refreshments.
