Sedalia Police Rescue Louisiana Kidnap Victim at Motel 6

Sedalia Police recently helped the Livingston Parish, Louisana Police Department by rescuing a kidnapping victim who was forced from her bed by her alleged assailant. This is according to a press release from the Sedalia Police Department.

On July 6, 2023, Sedalia Police were contacted by the Livingston Parish Police Department in reference to a kidnapping that occurred there on July 5, 2023. Livingston Parish Police had pinged a cell phone in the area of 2nd and Winchester in Sedalia. Officers responded to the area of the cell phone ping and located a truck in the Motel 6 parking lot with Louisiana plates.

The truck came back registered to the kidnapped female, and officers made contact with a male and female who had rented a room at the motel. Officers separated the parties, and police identified the male as William H. Howe and the female as the kidnapped victim.

The victim told Sedalia Police Officers that Howe, who was known to her, entered her home and took her from her bed. She told officers that they drove from Louisiana to Missouri only stopping for gas, and that she felt she was unable to escape.

Sedalia Police arrested Howe, 55, of Walker, Louisiana, and placed him on a 24-hour hold for Kidnapping Second Degree. He was given a $10,000 cash or surety bond which he posted on July 7, 2023.

On July 10, 2023, Howe came to the Sedalia Police Station to retrieve property, and officers attempted to arrest him on a no-bond full extradition warrant issued from Livingston Parish, Louisiana for kidnapping which had been issued after he had bonded out of police custody.

Howe attempted to evade police and fled on foot but was captured near 4th and Moniteau. He was transported to the jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold for Fugitive From Justice and Resisting Arrest. Howe will be extradited to Louisiana.
