Sedalia Police Reports For September 14, 2021

On the afternoon of September 9th, the Sedalia Police Department took a theft report from the Buckle store. Angelica E Moroney stated that a suspect stole an item from the store.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a car that had no front license plate and no plate lights in the area of East 12th Street and South Engineer Avenue early Tuesday morning. After an investigation, it was determined that the driver had a suspended driver's status and two Failure to Appear warrants from the city of Sedalia on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. He was also found to be possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Jesus Ubaldo Quetzecua, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Ubaldo Quetzecua was booked in on the warrants with a cash only bond of $160. Ubaldo Quetzecua was issued municipal citations for Driving While Suspended, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On the afternoon of September 8th, Daniel Bakert reported he was assaulted by his husband. During the incident, the suspect also damaged the vehicle Bakert was in.

Monday evening, Carrie Withers reported to Sedalia Police a bike found in the road in the area of East 9th Street and South Porter Street. The bike was brought to the Police Department where it was placed into evidence as found property. It is unknown who the bike belongs to.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Menards store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue Monday evening in reference to a theft report. A male left with an air nailer concealed in his jeans without paying for it.

Monday night, Officers responded to the 1400 block of South Carr Avenue in reference to a violation of a protection order. Officers made contact with Donald Knox, who stated the suspect showed up on his front porch of the residence and was yelling. The suspect left on foot before Officers arrived on the scene. The suspect was identified and charges of Violation of Protection Order will be sent to the prosecutor for review.

Officers responded to the Police Department lobby for a burglary report Monday evening. After an investigation, it was determined that a burglary did not occur, and the reporting party had been evicted from his residence. Information was collected and the investigation was documented.

Early Tuesday morning, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of South Grand Avenue and West 11th Street. During the investigation, a passenger in the vehicle was found to have an active Sedalia Municipal warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Ezra J. Greene, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Greene was given a bond of $200 cash only.

Monday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a subject check at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. Contact was made with Hunly G. Fred, 26, Homeless. Fred was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Fred was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be held on a 12 hour protective custody hold.

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a red Toyota Tundra for speeding Monday morning. The stop took place in the 3200 block of South Limit Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, and a computer check through Dispatch confirmed him to have no operator's status. Salvador S. Cruz, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department to be finger printed. Cruz was issued citations for No Operator's Status and Speeding, given a court date, and released.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West 3rd Street to assist with a disturbance. The suspect walked away from Officers at the scene. A clothing description was given, and another Officer located the suspect. After checking the information with Dispatch, it was confirmed the suspect had a felony probation violation warrant from Kansas City for felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree, and a misdemeanor Failure to Appear Pettis County warrant on original charges of Trespassing. Jasmine Unique McCartney, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was held pending transportation back to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Sedalia Police took a report of property damage Monday morning that occurred near the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue the night before. Misty Rahe reported a vehicle was scratched down the side, with damage estimated at  approximately $700. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the 300 block of East Boonville Street for a possible non breathing subject. On arrival, Officers made contact with the victim. Pettis County Ambulance was on scene and determined the male to have no signs of life. The victim was determined to be deceased. The Pettis County Coroner responded to the scene. Rea Funeral Home was contacted at the request of the family. No signs of foul play were observed at the scene.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to Tigerland Motors, 1303 South Limit Avenue Monday morning in reference to a vehicle theft. Officers arrived and made contact with Travis J. Dickman, who reported a white Ford F250 had been stolen over the weekend.

Monday morning, Officers responded to the 3100 block of Skyline Drive in reference to a possible scam. Sue T. Heckart reported that on September 9th, her computer was locked up and it directed her to call a phone number. Upon calling that number, the scammer gained access to her computer and obtained a copy of her driver's license. At the time of the report, it did not appear any money had been taken. A report was made at this time for documentation purposes.

Early Monday morning, Officers initiated a check on a female that appeared to be in distress at the Casey's store, 1601 East Broadway Boulevard. The female said she had been involved in a domestic dispute where a knife had been used. Officers contacted the suspect and arrested him. Robert L. Miller, 37, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of formal charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 1st Degree.
