Sedalia Police Reports For September 13, 2023

Tuesday night, a vehicle crash was reported in the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue. The crash occurred when a vehicle struck two parked vehicles, and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was located in the 1000 block of South Ohio Avenue. The driver was contacted, and found to be intoxicated. Zaida Lynn Ptomey, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of An Accident. Ptomey was cited and released with a court date in November.
Officers responded to the 1300 block of East 6th Street Tuesday morning in reference to a property damage report. Cody A. Dorr stated sometime through the night, his vehicle was damaged. No suspects have been identified at this time. An estimate of the value of the damage was unavailable.
Monday afternoon, Officers responded to the 800 block of East 4th Street in reference to an assault. Officers spoke with Christopher Judah Skrzypczak, who stated he had been assaulted by his girlfriend. Charges have been submitted to the Prosecutor's Office.
Sedalia Police responded to the National TV Sales and Rental, 1400 South Limit Unit 10, for a report of failure to return rented property. On arrival, Officers met with the manager, Michael Duncan. Duncan informed Officers a subject rented a PlayStation 5, valued at $842.93 on 7/13/23. No payments were made on the item. No contact has been able to be made with the suspect. At the time of the call, he has not yet been located. The item has been entered into MULES, as stolen.
Monday afternoon, Officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle with a driver who was known to have a suspended driver’s license. The traffic stop took place at South Moniteau Avenue and West 2nd Street. A computer check through Dispatch confirmed his driving status. Cornelius L. Bentley, 66, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Bentley was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
Tuesday morning, Officers responded to the CVS Pharmacy, 100 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to fraud. A fake $100 bill was used at the business. A report was made of the incident.
