Sedalia Police Reports For October 27, 2022

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Grand Avenue and West Main Street in reference to a hit and run crash. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the caller, who said they had been hit by another vehicle and the vehicle drove off. As a result of the caller's and the passenger's statements, the vehicle was located and the subject was arrested. Further investigation Wednesday evening revealed the original caller had made a false report. The suspect was given multiple opportunities to correct his story, but chose to request the other individual be charged instead. Vince Reno Tibbitts, 37 of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail on charges of Making a False Report. It has also been requested charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident be dropped against the other individual, Jose Luis Matacua, 36, of Sedalia.
Wednesday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of North W.T. Morris Avenue for a report of a firearm being displayed. There is no victim cooperation at this point, and a report is being done for documentation.
Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard Tuesday morning after observing the vehicle had a head light out and expired registration. The driver was found to have a confirmed arrest warrant after she failed to appear in court. Erika Doroshay Thomas, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Expired Plates. Thomas was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was held pending a $100 cash only bond.
Wednesday morning, Officers met with Normal J Berg, who wished to report an incident of fraud. Berg checked her account online and noticed a deduction that should not have occurred. She checked with her bank, and was told it was for checks. In checking with that company, she found that the checks had been delivered to her UPS mailbox and charged to her card. Berg then found the checks at her UPS mailbox. The person of interest is someone over the internet. After checking out the person, the victim found that it was a fake picture/video. A report was filed due to her being out the $45 for the checks and what she believes is a hacked account.
