Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of West Saline Street and McAnally Court to contact a subject who had found a possible homemade explosive device. When Officers arrived, they contacted Jason J. Spencer. Spencer stated he had found the item in the area of West Saline Street and North Veterans Memorial Drive. After closer inspection, it was determined to be an explosive device. Officers then brought it to the station to be disposed of. There are no suspects currently.


 

On the morning of September 27th, Officers made contact with Valerie Dempsey at her residence in the 900 block of South Quincy Avenue. Dempsey stated she had recently noticed someone had written a threatening message on her shed door. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East 7th Street in reference to a hit and run accident. Officers were told that earlier that morning, a parked Chevrolet S10 pickup was struck by another vehicle, causing damage to the left rear side. Parts left from the suspect vehicle on the scene indicate the suspect vehicle is a Ford passenger car. The Ford has damage to the right front headlight area. The investigation continues.

Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle in reference to an equipment violation near the area of West Saline Street and North Veteran's Memorial Drive Thursday night. The operator was found to have an active warrant for their arrest out of the city of Knob Noster. Madison Leigh Boersma, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Speeding. Boersma was arrested without incident and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $150 cash only bond.


 

Officers responded to the End Zone Bar and Grill, 3120 West Broadway Boulevard Wednesday evening in reference to a theft report. The reporting party stated a part time employee was seen taking money on security camera footage from the back office. The theft occurred in the overnight hours of October 18th.


 

On the morning of October 11th, Officers responded to the Lennox Heating and Air Conditioning, 216 East 2nd Street, for a property damage report. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with Zachary D. Brodersen. Brodersen reported several items were damaged. A report was collected, along with statements.


 

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the 2600 block of North Woodlawn Drive for a report of found property. John S. Russell found a bicycle. The bicycle was collected and taken to the Police Department to be placed into evidence.


 

Sedalia Police stopped a vehicle in the area of West Broadway and South Carr Avenue for a traffic violation. The operator of the vehicle was found to have a suspended driver's license out of the state of Kentucky. Joshua Michael Durbin, 29, of Owensboro, was arrested without incident for Driving While Suspended. Durbin was transported to the Police Department for processing, and then released with a citation.


 

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the Prime Time, 1320 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a theft that occurred the night before. The reporting party stated four juveniles were caught on camera stealing vape pens on October 19th, 2022. The four juveniles were in the store and released from the scene. Juvenile referral forms have been sent to the Juvenile Office.


 

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue Wednesday morning. License plates registered to another person were seized, and sent to the Department of Revenue for disposal.


 

On the morning of October 17th, Officers took a report of a U-Haul theft from Steven Farrell in the 400 block of West Main Street. Farrell stated the U-Haul had been rented in Sedalia, but not returned. The complainant has not provided enough information to request charges at this time.
