Sedalia Police Reports for October 18, 2021

This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department reports. Early Monday morning, Sedalia Police and Deputies from the Pettis County Sheriff's Officer responded to the 600 block of West 7th Street for a report of a suicidal subject. The subject was taken into custody and then released to PCAD for treatment of suicidal ideations and intoxication. He was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Officers responded to the 800 block of East 19th Street for a report of a suicidal subject Sunday night. When Officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the subject, but the subject was not there. A short while later, contact was made with the subject, who was taken to the Bothwell ER for evaluation.

Sunday morning, Officers performed an area check at the Break Time store, 101 Rebar Road. While performing the area check, Officers observed a vehicle. After running the plate and registered owner's information, the registered owner came back with a warrant out of Jackson County. Jason Bost, 48, of Blue Springs, was placed under arrest for his warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bost was given a $3,000 cash only bond.

Sedalia Police stopped a truck in the area of West 14th Street and South Grand Avenue for a moving violation Sunday morning. The driver immediately took off on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, and the driver was captured. He provided false identification. After an investigation, he was found to be intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, in possession of marijuana, and had a revoked driver's status out of Missouri. He was transported to a hospital and then the Pettis County Jail. He had methamphetamine concealed in his sock. Liborio Ubaldo Herrera, 38, Homeless, was put on a 24 hour hold pending charges of felony Driving While Intoxicated, felony Resisting Arrest, Possession of Methamphetamine, Introduction of a Controlled Substance into a Jail Facility, Identity Theft, Driving While Revoked, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License, and Possession of Marijuana.

Sunday evening, Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Warren Avenue for a report of a disturbance. The two subjects involved were found to have been having a marital argument that resulted in them throwing alcohol on one another and yelling in the street. Neither subject had injury. Arrangements were made for the subjects to be separated for the night. A 12 hour log was started to document the incident.

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Menard's store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue, in reference to a theft. Two females were seen acting suspiciously near "high theft items", and concealing a knife and other merchandise. The females were confronted at the registers, denied stealing, and left quickly to their van and drove off.

On the evening of October 15th, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Buckner Court for a disturbance. After an investigation, it was determined that an assault had occurred. Suspect information was collected, and a state charge of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree is being requested.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue Sunday night in reference to a Violation of a Court Order. The suspect was served an Ex Parte earlier in the day, preventing him from contacting the petitioner. The suspect sent several text messages after he had been served. Michael A Etter, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Violation of a Full Order of Protection and placed on a 24-hour hold while charges are pursued.

Sunday afternoon, the Sedalia Police Department took a burglary report in the 1100 block of South Harding Avenue. Upon arriving, NaKendra Shaune McGee reported that someone broke into their residence and stole two televisions and damaged her property.

Officers took a report from Wendy Vest of a stolen phone near the 1700 block of South Ohio Avenue Sunday afternoon. The value of the phone was estimated at approximately $259. No suspects have been located at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the 400 block of East 6th Street for a well being check Sunday morning. Upon arriving, it was determined that the occupant of the residence was deceased and found by family.

Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 200 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to an intoxicated subject passed out on the porch. The subject did not belong at the residence and was unable to care for himself. Sergio A. Marcos-Lazaro, 43, of Sedalia, was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center and ultimately to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold.

Sedalia Police responded to the Police Department lobby, 300 West 3rd Street, for a property damage report Sunday afternoon. Halee Kinner reported a person known to her damaged her vehicle with a brick in the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue. Kinner wished to pursue charges for property damage. At the time of the report, no contact has been made with the suspect.

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Summit Avenue in reference to a possible trespassing. Officers located a subject in the back yard of the residence. After several attempts, Officers were unable to contact the owner of the residence to determine if the subject was supposed to be there. Craig Daniel Spain, 51, of Sedalia, had an active Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County on original charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Spain was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where a bond of $25,000 cash or surety was set.

Sedalia Police took a missing person report in the 1900 block of South Missouri Avenue Saturday afternoon. The missing person was located a short time later, after the report was taken.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the Easy-Stor, 3025 Clinton Road, in reference to a theft that occurred from one of the storage units. Marcus Wolfe estimated the value of his items taken to be approximately $17,993. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Break Time store, 101 Rebar Road, in reference to a theft. Officers arrived and made contact with Michael P. Conroy. Conroy reported that a counterfeit $100 bill had been passed at the store. The suspect made a small purchase was able to get back cash from the store.

Sunday night, Officers responded to the 300 block of South Hancock Avenue for a report of an assault. Officers arrived and met with the caller. An investigation was complete, showing that a window was busted out using an object in an attempt to gain entry to a garage and cause physical harm to a victim. The suspect was still on scene. Clarissa J. Holman, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Holman was then taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24 hour hold.

In the early morning hours Saturday, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of West Main Street and South Osage Avenue. During the stop, the driver was arrested for Driving While Suspended, Possession of Marijuana, and a Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated. Diana V. Gorpinich, 22, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released on the Sedalia Municipal charges and had a bond of $250 cash only on the Pettis County warrant.

Saturday night, Officers a car that they recognized to be owned and driven by a suspect with a revoked license of out of Missouri. Officers initiated a traffic stop on it in the area of West Pettis Street and North Moniteau Avenue. Officers made contact with the driver, who Officers recognized to be the suspect. Dispatch verified the driver's status was revoked. Anthony Lamar Melton, 33, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest on a state charge of Driving While Revoked and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Ingram Friday evening for a report of an overdose. After arriving, Officers, Fire and EMS treated the patient, who was then transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for further treatment.

Friday evening, Officers responded to the Sonic restaurant, 300 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a disturbance. One of the two parties had left the scene prior to arrival. A victim was located, and reported that the father of her child had thrown her to the ground over an argument about child custody. The victim had minor injuries that were not treated. The suspect could not be located. A charge of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree is being requested to the Prosecutor's Office.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Grand Avenue and West 5th Street Saturday morning. During the stop, Natalie D. Sams, 40, of Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Sams was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she was processed and released. The charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Improper Lane Usage are being referred to the Sedalia Municipal prosecutor.

Early Saturday morning, a car was stopped in the area of East 7th Street and South Lamine Avenue for disobeying a stop sign. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Jerome J. Dieckman, 30, of Sedalia, arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, a hospital, and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold. Charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Disobeying a Stop Sign, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility are being sought.

Friday night, A car was stopped in the area of East 16th Street and South Engineer Avenue for failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. After an investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Rockney Ray Turley, 48, was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Turley was transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, a hospital, and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold for felony Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender). Charges of Failure to Keep on the Right Side of the Roadway and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility are also being requested.

On the morning of October 11th, Officers responded to the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue in reference to a disturbance. It was determined that two relatives got into an argument after one of them came into a residence without permission. The other then chased them out, and threw an object at their vehicle causing approximately $800 worth of damage. Charges were requested for Property Damage in the 1st Degree.

Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to Baker's Car Corral, 2120 East Broadway Boulevard, in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with John D. Baker II, who stated that sometime overnight the driver's side window of a 2008 Ford Escape was damaged.

On the afternoon of October 11th, Officers took a report of a theft that occurred in the parking lot of the Lowe's store, 3811 West Broadway Boulevard. Michael Gene Evans reported that approximately 30 sheets of metal siding were stolen from their trailer while they were inside the store. The value of the items taken was estimated at approximately $760. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Saturday morning, the Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of South Marshall Avenue. Upon arriving, the child was taken to the Sedalia Police Department and the family was contacted. The child was returned to their home.

On the afternoon of October 11th, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the GNC, 3141 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to counterfeit bills that had been passed at the business. After further investigation, it was determined that at least two males had been working in unison to pass counterfeit $100 bills at multiple businesses on the west side of Sedalia.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department lobby in reference to found drugs. The reporting party came into possession of a tin can of marijuana in the 1200 block of South Prospect Avenue and wanted to make sure it was destroyed. The marijuana was entered into evidence for destruction.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East 4th Street for a report of a stolen vehicle that reportedly occurred in the area of West 20th Street and South Limit Avenue. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Ezra J Greene. Greene stated that sometime late Thursday night, a man wearing a hooded sweat shirt and a mask covering his face waved down Greene and then stole the vehicle at gun point. It was later discovered that the vehicle was recovered by Pettis County Deputies after a pursuit shortly after the the time that Greene stated the vehicle was stolen. Officers contacted Greene and informed him that the vehicle and items inside it were recovered. There are no suspects at this time. Officers attempted to contact the registered owner of the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.

On the afternoon of October 12th, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department lobby for an assault report. The victim stated there was physical contact and the incident is being documented in a 12 hour log.

Sedalia Police took a missing person report from James Lee Hedrick on the morning of October 15th in the 1000 block of East 3rd Street. A missing person report was completed.

On the morning of October 15th, Officers spoke with Carlyn Gresham at the Police Headquarters in reference to a theft from the 700 block of East 3rd Street. Gresham stated $1672.21 was taken from her account without her consent.
