Sedalia Police Reports for November 8, 2021

Early Monday morning, Officers observed a Jeep driving erratically on West 16th Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at West 16th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated and had a revoked driving status. The driver was arrested and placed into the patrol car. During a search of the suspect's vehicle, Officers observed a half empty 1.75 liter bottle of vodka and a prescription pill container with a variety of different pills in it, that had no markings. Nathanael A. David, 32, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. The pills were sent to the MSHP lab for analysis. David was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) and Driving While Revoked has been submitted to the prosecutor. Further charges may be requested pending the result of the pill analysis.

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle travelling westbound on West Broadway Boulevard Sunday morning that was speeding and swerving all over the road. Officers activated their emergency lights, and the vehicle continued. It eventually stopped on West Broadway Boulevard near Curry Road. Officers made contact with the driver, and detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the driver had a revoked driving status and was intoxicated. Juan Lincoln, 57, of Kansas City, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Lincoln was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was held on a 24 hour hold. A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Revoked has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Friday night, Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the 1400 block of Thompson Boulevard for drifting into the opposite traffic lane. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the driver had a revoked driving status and was intoxicated. Isidro Matacua Aguilar, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Police Department for processing. Aguilar was transported to the Pettis County Jail and booked on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Revoked. Aguilar was then placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold.

Officers were dispatched to the area of North Ohio Avenue and East Hogan Street Sunday morning for a report of gunfire. Multiple people in the area heard what they believed to be the sound of gunfire, but no victims came forward. There was no evidence of shots being fired found in the area.

Sunday afternoon, Officers took a report of theft of a pickup from Miguel Sandoval. The pickup was stolen near the intersection of East Main Street and South Washington Avenue. Later in the day, the pickup was found at a business in the 3900 block of West 9th Street. There is limited suspect information at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1600 block of South Stewart Avenue for a report of a runaway juvenile Sunday morning. Contact was made with a female subject, who reported that her granddaughter ran away from home. The juvenile was later located and returned home.

Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 700 block of South Lafayette Avenue in reference to a possible theft of utilities. Upon arrival, Officers met with the victim, who lives at the residence. The victim had noted discrepancies in her utility bills and found the water heater servicing her residence had been tampered with. A report was completed and forwarded to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office for review.

Officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Lafayette Avenue for failing to display license plates Saturday afternoon. Computer checks of the occupant's information showed the driver, Cameron David Williams, 24, of Jefferson City, had a warrant for his arrest for Assault. William's bond was set at $1,500 cash or surety. Another occupant, Nichole Sharee Bierschback, 39, of Sedalia, had a warrant issued for Failure to Appear on original charges of Trespassing. Bond for that warrant was set at $200. Both warrants were confirmed. Williams and Bierschback were transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a building in the 1100 block of West Main Street for a theft report. Tracy Pierce reported a suspect took a Halloween decoration on November 3rd. Later in the day on November 6th, the items were returned to the victim and no charges are being requested.

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East Harvey Street for a vehicle check. The caller wanted to report a vehicle parked on the city street without any license plates on it. Upon arrival, Officers met with a subject who was working on the vehicle. Officers ran his information through Dispatch. Dispatch confirmed the subject had a warrant out of Pettis County for Possession of a Controlled Substance. David Lee Paxton Jr., 60 of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail where bond was set at $7,500 cash or surety.

Early Saturday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle stop at West 16th Street and South Prospect Avenue after a vehicle struck a curb. After the investigation, it was determined that the driver was a minor and intoxicated. Wesley C. Morrison, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Police Department for processing. Morrison was issued municipal citations for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Driving While Intoxicated with a court date. Morrison was then released to a parent.

Sedalia Police responded to the area behind the Hardee's restaurant, 715 East Broadway Boulevard Saturday night in reference to a domestic disturbance. The complainant stated that a male subject was throwing rocks at their vehicle. Officers made contact with the male suspect. Officers ran his information through Dispatch and confirmed he had an active warrant out of Saline County. Jesse Rodger Marquess Jr., 42, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the county line to transfer him to Marshall Police.

Saturday morning, Officers observed a vehicle with no registration plates on West Broadway Boulevard. While talking with the driver, Officers detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Sergey Sergeyevich Zayats, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Zayats was issued a UTT for Driving While Intoxicated and released to a sober driver.

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle on West 16th Street that did not have working license plate lights Saturday morning. While trying to catch up to the vehicle, the driver parked it on the side of the road and attempted to walk away. Officers contacted the subject and detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the driver had a revoked driving status and was intoxicated. Christopher Danial Mckinzie, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Mckinzie was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked. A request for the charges of felony Driving While Intoxicated (Chronic Offender) and felony Driving While Revoked has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Friday night, Officers responded to the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to a warrant check. Officers searched the residence and were able to make contact with a male subject, who had multiple warrants out of Pettis County. Jorge Luis Marcos, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested on his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated and his warrants for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Marcos was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked on his warrants with total bond set at $2,954.50.

Officers observed a vehicle travelling 43 miles per hour in a 25 mile an hour zone in the area of East 24th Street and South New York Avenue Saturday evening. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified. A computer check of the driver showed that they did not have a valid license. Farris Lee Higginbotham, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Police Department where he was booked and released on a city charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were conducting a foot patrol in the Thompson Hills Shopping Center, 3101 West Broadway Boulevard, when they recognized a subject that they believed had an active warrant. Officers made contact with the subject, and a check through Dispatch showed he had an active City of Sedalia Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Harassment in the 2nd Degree. Paul Eugene Stark, 44, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked with bond set at $351.50 cash only.

Saturday morning, Officers recognized a subject that they believed had an active warrant in the 300 block of West 3rd Street. Officers made contact with the subject, and a check through Dispatch showed he had active warrants for Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License and Resisting Arrest. Cody Jay Hicks, 32, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked with a total bond set at $2,500.

Sedalia Police were speaking with Michele Ann Davenport Saturday morning about an assault. She stated that two known subjects assaulted her the overnight hours. She stated she didn't need medical attention, but did wish to pursue charges. Davenport wanted to make another report of a theft. She stated her purse was missing and it was last seen between the Washington Street bridge and the area of East 3rd Street and South Mill Street. Davenport stated the purse contained about $200 in cash.

Officers were dispatched to the Shoe Sensation store, 2700 West Broadway Boulevard Suite C, for a report of forgery Saturday afternoon. Contact was made with a female subject, who reported that a female suspect had paid for merchandise in the store with a counterfeit $100 bill.

On the morning of November 2nd, Sedalia Police spoke with Steven Birkett over the phone regarding the theft of money from their bank account. There is limited suspect information at this time.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Probation and Parole office, 205 Thompson Road, for a warrant check last Tuesday morning. A subject at a business had a warrant issued for his arrest from Pettis County for a charge of misdemeanor Assault. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Justin P. Wilson, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Wilson is being held pending a $1500 cash or surety bond.

Friday evening, Officers responded to the lobby of the Police Department for an assault report. The victim had evidence of physical injury that had occurred in the 1100 block of West 16th Street. The victim wished to pursue charges. A state charge of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's office.

On the morning of November 6th, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of property damage. A building's front door was damaged during an unknown time frame. There is no suspect information at this time.

Saturday morning, Officers initiated an investigative traffic stop on a car near West Main Street and South Limit Avenue because the registered owner's driving status was suspended. A check through Dispatch showed the driver was the registered owner and her license status was suspended. The check also showed she had Boone County and Audrain County Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Driving While Suspended. Stephanie Nicole Arney, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and booked on her $500 cash only bond. A charge of Driving While Suspended was later submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's office.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on an SUV for speeding and disobeying a stop sign Saturday afternoon. A check through Dispatch showed the driver did not have a valid license and two active warrants out of the City of Sedalia for Failure to Appear on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a License. Shaylee Lynn Lynch, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked. A state charge of No Driver's License was later submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office.

Friday morning, Officers responded to the Easy Stor Storage, 3025 Clinton Road, for a report of a burglary. Contact was made with Michael Wells and Scott Wittman, who reported that their storage units were broken into and items were stolen within the last two weeks.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue Friday morning. A computer check of the driver showed they had an active warrant from Pettis County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Forgery. When the warrant was confirmed, David A. Gonzales Juarez, 23, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Gonzales Juarez was given a bond of $7500 cash or surety.

Friday morning, Officers were called to the 1900 block of South New York Avenue in reference to a subject violating an order of protection. The victim stated that the suspect was within the 100 yards that the judge had ordered. The suspect, who was there, admitted to being too close and pointed out the spots where he was sitting and the victim was sitting. Olan A. Boatcher Jr., 66, of Sedalia, was arrested for Violation of Full Order of Protection and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Boatcher was booked and released with a court date.

Sedalia Police performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of East 19th Street and South Ingram Avenue for speeding Friday morning. Officers made contact with the driver, and relayed his information to Dispatch. Dispatch advised that that he had an active warrant out of Pettis County for felony Forgery. Tyrone E. Smith, 41, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $3,500 cash or surety.

On the afternoon of October 29th, Officers began investigating a sex crime that was referred to the Police Department by a third party.
