Sedalia Police Reports For November 2, 2021

Late Monday night, Officers made contact with an individual who walked away from a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the suspect had Pettis County and City of Sedalia Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway While Suspended and Violation of a Full Order of Protection. Cruz Escobar, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked on his warrants. The Pettis County warrant has a bond set at $5,000 cash or surety, while the Sedalia warrants had bonds set at $200 and $60 cash only.

Officers took a report in the lobby of the Sedalia Police Department, 300 West 3rd Street, regarding suspicious activity Monday evening. David Lee Todd had received several checks in the mail that were fraudulent. The report was completed for documentation of the event.

Sunday night, Officers conducted a subject check in the 900 block of Westwood Avenue. As part of the investigation, Officers attempted to make contact with a registered sex offender to do a Halloween compliance check. No contact was made, and charges for not being in compliance are being submitted to the state prosecutor.

Officers conducted a subject check at the Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway Boulevard Sunday night. As part of the Halloween sexual offender compliance check, Officers attempted to make contact with one of the registered sex offenders. No contact was made, and charges for not being in compliance are being submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police conducted a subject check in the 400 block of North Prospect Avenue Sunday night. As part of the sexual offender compliance check, Officers attempted to make contact with the offenders. No contact was made, and charges for not being in compliance are being submitted to the prosecutor.

Sunday evening, Officers conducted a subject check in the 400 block of Hurley Avenue. As part of the Halloween sexual offender compliance check, Officers attempted to make contact with one of the registered sex offenders. No contact was made, and charges for not being in compliance are being submitted to the prosecutor.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to at heft that occurred in the 900 block of Mitchell Road. Maryann Harding said that in the overnight hours, someone stole several items out of her vehicle.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Best Western State Fair Inn, 3120 South Limit Avenue Monday morning in regards to a theft report. Cameron Wise said $1,000 in cash was taken from his room. There is some suspect information at this time.

Monday afternoon, Officers took a report of a stolen vehicle from Michael Hill. The vehicle was stolen from the 2200 block of South Limit Avenue. The information has been entered into MULES/NCIC as stolen.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of East 2nd Street for a disturbance Monday afternoon. Investigation determined that the argument turned physical, but the primary aggressor could not be determined. The report was completed as a log of the event.

On the morning of October 29th, The Sedalia Police Department's Crime Resolution Unit, along with the Tactical Entry Unit executed two search warrants within the City of Sedalia. The first warrant was served in the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue. Christina Marie Clark, 39, and Francisco A. Fernandez, 58, both of Sedalia, were arrested for four counts Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and four counts of Possession of a Dangerous Drug. The second warrant was served in the 400 block of West 7th Street. Enrique Serna Canseco, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested on four counts of Possession of a Dangerous Drug, four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Concealable Weapon. Another adult was arrested, and that information was not available at news time. A total of four adults were transported to the Pettis County Jail for processing. Formal charges are being sought through the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office.

On the afternoon of October 28th, an Officer responded to the U-Haul, 416 West Main Street, for a report of theft. Danny Van Dyne said that rental property was not returned by the agreed upon date. The business wished to pursue charges. The property was located in the area of Engineer and 5th and returned to the property owner. A charge of felony Failure to Return Rental Property was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor.
