Sedalia Police Reports For March 15, 2021

Last Thursday afternoon, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East 3rd Street and South Lafayette Avenue, due to the vehicle having expired license plates that did not match the vehicle it was on. In the course of the stop, Officers were advised by Dispatch that the driver had a revoked license. Melissa L. Dorsey, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released for Driving While Revoked.

Sunday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for an accident report. Lewis L. Jackson reported that the suspect vehicle backed into his vehicle three times before leaving the scene.

Sedalia Police took a found property report Saturday night. Carrisa Jo Johnson brought a found debit card into the Sedalia Police Department lobby. Attempts were made to contact the owner, but were unsuccessful.

Sunday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the area of East 14th Street and South Ingram Avenue in reference to a subject check. Several people in the area called in reference to a subject laying in the street, a driveway, and having items strung all over the area. The subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was placed under arrest. Justin David Woolery, 34, Homeless, was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 12 hour hold pending state charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sedalia Police responded to the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, 4401 Wisconsin Avenue, Sunday afternoon in reference to a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, Officers met with Katrina Gifford, who stated her vehicle was struck while parked on the parking lot. The striking vehicle left without providing information. At the time of the report, contact had not been made with the suspect.

Officers responded to the area of West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue in regards to a wrong way driver approaching city limits from the county Sunday morning. The vehicle and driver were found and the driver was found to be intoxicated. Alyssa Marie Molina, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and released with a court date.

Sunday morning, Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of East 11th Street in reference to an attempted suicide by overdose. The subject was responsive and was transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center by the Pettis County Ambulance District for treatment.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a possible burglary. Subjects gained access to a house that was previously boarded up by code enforcement. While clearing the building, subjects were found inside. Methamphetamine, a home made meth pipe, and marijuana was also found in the house. One of the subjects claimed ownership of the contraband and was placed under arrest. Heather Marie Reed, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Reed was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail pending state charges.

Saturday afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the area of South Stewart Avenue and Gregory Lane in regards to a found bicycle. The bicycle was transported to the Police Department to be held for safekeeping.

Sedalia Police responded to the 600 block of South Lafayette Avenue Saturday evening in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle. Marsha L. Urton stated that her front license plate was stolen. No suspect has been identified at this time.

Officers responded to the 600 block of South State Fair Boulevard Saturday morning in reference to property damage. Henry E. Contreras stated a juvenile threw a rock through his driver's side window. The juvenile has not been identified or contacted at this time.

Late Friday night, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Department lobby in reference to a violation of an order of protection. When Officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said her child's father was contacting her even though there was an order of protection in place. The victim provided screen shots as evidence. A request for the charge of Violation of an Order of Protection has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the 100 block of East Johnson Street in reference to a civil dispute. Upon arrival, subjects were identified and a male subject was found to be in violation of a court order of protection. William L. Barefield, 64, of Sedalia, was arrested for Violation of an Order of Protection and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Friday night, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding on West Main Street near South Harrison Avenue. When Officers made contact with the driver, they detected the odor of intoxicants on the driver's breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Bonnie Jo Ballance, 62, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Ballance provided a breath sample that showed her BAC to be above 0.08. Ballance was issued a citation for Driving While Intoxicated with a court date, and released to a sober driver.

In the early morning hours of March 10th, Sedalia Police observed a white Dodge Dart that was drifting from lane to lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on West Broadway Boulevard and South Sneed Avenue. When Officers made contact with the driver, the overwhelming odor of marijuana was detected. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driver's license and was intoxicated. Destiny N. Archambault, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC was above 0.08. Archambault was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released to a sober driver. A request for charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender) and Driving While Suspended has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Saturday afternoon, Sedalia Police responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in regards to a theft in progress. The suspect left before Officer arrival. A report was completed to document the incident. The total value of the stolen items is $29.29.

Sedalia Police responded to the Woods Express store, 703 East Broadway Boulevard Saturday afternoon in reference to a domestic disturbance. Two parties with a child in common had gotten into a physical altercation during the child exchange. Both parties suffered minor injuries. There is an existing ex-parte in place between the two, and it was determined the male subject had violated it during the altercation. Tristan D. Fizer, 26, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Violation of an Order of Protection and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 800 block of East 16th Street in reference to a disturbance. When Officers arrived, a female subject's information was given to Dispatch. Dispatch informed officers the female had an active warrant out of the City of Sedalia for Failure to Appear. The female was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East 17th for a reported runaway juvenile. Officers made contact with Adam Synder, who stated his daughter ran away from home the previous night, and he doesn't know where she is currently. The juvenile's information was given to Dispatch so she could be listed as a missing person in MULES and NCIC.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of South Sneed Avenue Friday evening. Rebecca M. Vaughn, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), Driving While Suspended, and Resisting Arrest. Vaughn was transported to the Pettis County Jail for a 24 hour hold, pending formal charges from the prosecutor's office.

On the night of March 8th, a report was taken in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to harassment. The complainant stated she has been receiving threatening messages via Facebook messenger by a female suspect. The female suspect has been identified, contacted, and denies sending the messages. Charges are being requested of Harassment on the female suspect.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the 500 block of West 3rd Street in reference to a found property call. Two backpacks were located on the front porch. The backpacks were collected and logged into evidence as found property.

Friday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for no displayed license plates. The driver of the vehicle had an active Pettis County warrant. Zane Benito Rodriguez, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested on his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Expired Plates with bond set at $150.00.

Officers conducted a subject check near the area of 1400 South Limit Avenue Friday night. The subject was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and two glass pipes. Kyona B. Collins, 26, of Warrensburg was arrested on charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia.

Friday afternoon, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the station lobby for a harassment report. Officers made contact with the victim, who stated a known suspect has been sending her threatening text messages.

Officers were called to the back of the Econolodge, 3501 West Broadway Friday afternoon in reference to a disturbance. While enroute, the people in the disturbance walked west and were later located near Lamm Drive. The suspects a male and a female, had been arguing and admitted to shoving each other. There were no injuries and no one wanted to press charges; they wanted to go their own way. Each of the subjects were given options for housing and directions for getting an ex-parte. A 12 hour log was explained to them and was completed in case of further problems.

Friday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the Hampton Inn, 3909 West 9th Street, in reference to a property damage report. Management advised that a male subject set off a room smoke detector with a cigarette, then broke the detector while trying to shut it off. Contact was made with Adam M. Moore, 37, of Cole Camp, and he was issued a municipal summons for Property Damage.

Officers spoke with a complainant in the lobby of the Police Department in reference to property damage Friday morning. The complainant, a manager of the McDonald's restaurant located at 3101 West Broadway Boulevard, stated that a patron at the business got upset about his order. When the staff wasn't looking, he used his keys to scratch profanity into the front counter. The suspect then left the business. Security video was obtained of the incident, but the suspect hasn't been identified at the time of the report.
