Sedalia Police Reports for July 30, 2021

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Carr for a theft report. After an investigation, Officers discovered that someone broke into the caller's vehicle and stole approximately $400 worth of items. Timothy Lee Wood, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested pending formal charges of Stealing from a Motor Vehicle and Tampering in the 2nd Degree.

Officers responded to the Police Department lobby for a theft report Thursday afternoon. When Officers arrived, they made contact with Donald E. Paxton, who stated that a laptop was stolen from his home in the 500 block of North Quincy Avenue. A suspect is known at the time of the report.

Sedalia Police responded to the 300 block of East 2nd Street for a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle Thursday afternoon. Officers met with Keenan B. Borgman, who stated his vehicle was gone through overnight and a few items were stolen. The total value of the items was set at $85.00. At the time of the report, no suspects have been identified.

Thursday afternoon, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Police Headquarters lobby to speak to Jeffrey W. Wheeler about two of his storage units being broken into. Items were stolen from the Rac Jac storage, 3505 Greenridge Road. When Officers arrived, Wheeler reported that between July 17th and July 28th, someone took $575 worth of items from two storage units. There are no suspects at this time.

Early Friday morning, Officers responded to the Jiffy Stop store, 1722 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a trespassing call. Officers made contact with the subjects involved. An employee at Jiffy Stop asked an unruly customer to leave the store and the customer refused. The customer then threw ketchup packets at the employee. Jeffrey R. Stone, 45, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree and Harassment. Stone was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the WILS, 1800 West Main Street in reference to harassment Thursday afternoon. After further investigation, it was determined that the suspect had called the business over 60 times and made threats to employees. Employees were in fear of their safety due to the suspect's statements to them. The suspect was contacted at his residence and placed under arrest. Richard D. Thomas, 63, of Sedalia, was placed on a 24 hour hold pending the filing of state charges of Harassment.

Thursday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a car for a defective license plate light near North Engineer Avenue and East Howard Street. A check through Dispatch showed the driver had an active Pettis County warrant with no bond. D'Ante Earl Walker, 25, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his felony warrant for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree.

Officers responded to the 900 block of South Prospect Avenue Thursday evening for a disturbance. The victim wished to pursue charges against the suspect for Animal at Large. Michael Schafer, 38, of Sedalia, was issued a city ticket for Animal at Large with a court date.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a car with a tail light out near East 3rd Street and South Brown Avenue Thursday evening. The driver said the previous owner of the car left the plate on the car when he sold it. The plates were seized, to be sent to the Department of Revenue.

Thursday evening, a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of Clinton Road and James Road. During the roadside investigation, it was determined that the license plates on the vehicle belonged to a different vehicle and to a different subject. The license plates were seized and will be returned to the Department of Revenue. No charge is being requested for the registration violation.

Officers took a report of a theft that occurred mid-day in the 500 block of South Summit Avenue Thursday evening. Tammy Morgan reported that her vehicle was entered and miscellaneous items were taken between 11:00 a.m. that morning 5:00 p.m. that evening. the items were valued at $300.00.

Shortly after midnight Thursday, Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Carr Avenue in reference to a physical disturbance involving two subjects. One subject ran from Officers, but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Timmy L. Wood, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree, Property Damage in the 2nd Degree, and felony Resisting Arrest. Wood was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to a theft that had just occurred at the Menards store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue. On the way to Menards, an Officer observed the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Casey's store, 1909 West Main Street. The Officer made contact with two subjects, one fitting the description given by the caller. After further investigation, Joseph J. Moore, 46, Homeless, was arrested for Stealing and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. The other subject, Seth E. Hull, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Hull was booked and released.

Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department for a found property report. Ryan Dillon had located a green bag on South Ohio Avenue near East 16th Street in the middle of the road. Officers were not able to find contact information for who they believed the owner of the bag was, and it has been entered into evidence as found property.

Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of South State Fair Boulevard and West 3rd Street Friday morning, as the vehicle had no front license plate. Keston Billy, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Billy was booked and released with a court date.

Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a found wallet. Virgil Edgar originally found the wallet in the alley by Fav Trip. Attempts to contact the owner proved futile. The wallet was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
