Sedalia Police Reports For January 25, 2023

On the evening of January 19th, Officers responded to the 900 block of Olsen Drive for a confirmed structure fire. Officers conducted scene security and assisted firefighters at the scene. The fire was ruled as accidental.

Wednesday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop at West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue on a vehicle they observed travelling down West 16th Street with no head lights on. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver's Missouri privileges were also revoked. The suspect was arrested, and methamphetamine was found in his pocket. During a search of the vehicle, a digital scale was located. James F. Johnson Jr., 38, of Sedalia, was transported to the BRHC for a blood draw. Johnson was then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender), Driving While Revoked, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at South Moniteau Avenue and Wilkerson Street Sunday morning on a vehicle whose driver was known to have a suspended driver's license. The suspect's driving status was confirmed, and he was arrested. Jorge Luis Marcos, 24, of Sedalia, was transported to the Sedalia Police Department where he was issued a UTT for Driving While Suspended. Marcos was fingerprinted and released.

Monday night, Officers were dispatched to the area of South Beacon Avenue and West 16th Street Monday night to assist with a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been driving with no headlights on. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver had a revoked driving status and was also intoxicated. The driver was arrested and transported to the SPD, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Edgar Cuc Cucul, 34, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on charges of Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender).

Officers attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with no license plates and no rear lights Monday night in the area of East 16th Street and South Brown Avenue. The driver of the motorcycle fled and refused to stop. The driver was located approximately 30 minutes later and arrested. Bryson M. Galariada, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested for Failure to Yield, Resisting Arrest, Driving While Suspended, and two Pettis County warrants. The warrants were Failure to Appear warrants on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Bond on the FTA warrants was set at $561.50 cash only.

Tuesday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of East Broadway Boulevard on a vehicle that was failing to maintain its lane. An on scene investigation led to one male being arrested. Mason J. Heston, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Heston was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released pending charges.

Tuesday night, Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General store, 2500 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of theft. Officers on scene gathered the necessary information to generate a report.

Sedalia Police spoke to Maurice D. Dean over the phone Tuesday night. Dean reported a package had been stolen from his residence between the dates of January 20th and January 21st, 2023. A report was completed at the request of the victim.

Tuesday evening, Officers spoke with Kalena E. Hall in reference to her wallet and its contents being lost or stolen. Hall stated she last had the wallet in the State Fair Shopping Center, 1400 South Limit Avenue. Someone had attempted to use cards from her wallet to Cash App money to themselves.

Officers received a call in regards to a possibly intoxicated subject driving a motor vehicle early Tuesday morning. The caller provided a vehicle description, and Officers located the vehicle. The stop occurred in the area of South Limit Avenue and Tiger Pride Boulevard. Through the course of the investigation, one male subject was arrested. Walter R. Spooner, 63, of Warsaw, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Woods Supermarket, 1400 South Limit Avenue, for a report of a theft. The caller stated he caught a subject stealing food and was now out with her next to the business. It was found the subject had already been trespassed from the business due to previous thefts. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the female, who admitted to being trespassed as well as stealing. Sarita Linda Leon, 60, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Stealing and Burglary in the 1st Degree. Leon was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree, 3107 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a report of trespassing. Officers made contact with the suspect, who had two Failure to Appear warrants out of Pettis County on charges of Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. A search incident to the arrest located several controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Shyanne N. Meyer, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for her FTA warrants, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Meyer was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold. Bond on the FTA warrants was set at $500 cash only.

Sedalia Police took a report of theft in the lobby of the Police Department Tuesday morning. The treasurer of a local organization noticed approximately $7,000 had been charged to the organization's bank account without their knowledge or permission.

Early Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Osage Avenue for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, Officers met with residents, who were all out of the house. The house was close to being fully engulfed in flames. Sedalia Fire arrived a short time later, and were able to get the fire under control. There is no foul play suspected at this time.

Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Park Avenue in reference to a violation of a protection order. State charges of Violation of an Ex Parte are being recommended to the prosecutor.
