Sedalia Police Reports for August 31, 2023

Early Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to reports of gunshots. The victim stated a subject had set off an explosion inside his vehicle. The subject was identified and later arrested. Charles William Monteer, 39, of Sedalia, was booked in on charges of Knowing Burning or Exploding, Property Damage in the 1st Degree, and felony Aggravated Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Monteer was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Wednesday morning, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of West 32nd Street and Clinton Road in reference to an injury crash. Investigation revealed an eastbound 2018 Nissan Altima, driven by Kortney Kreisler of Sedalia, made a left turn into the path of travel of a westbound 2015 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle was driven by Robert Ekstrom. The Nissan had moderate damage to the front passenger side. The Harley Davidson had moderate damage to the front end. Ekstrom sustained injuries to his arms and legs, and was transported to the Missouri University Hospital by PCAD.
Wednesday morning, Officers were called to the 1900 block of South Montgomery Avenue in reference to a domestic assault. Upon arrival, the suspect had left. The victim stated she and the suspect had gotten into an argument, and the suspect began yelling. As the victim yelled out the window for help, the suspect threw water at her. The victim was again splashed with water and she broke his “vase*”. The suspect grabbed her and choked the victim to keep her from yelling out the window again. There were no marks on the victim. A report was made, and the victim requested charges be sent to the prosecutor.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 2700 block of West 16th Street in reference to a rollover crash Wednesday morning. Investigation revealed a westbound 2016 Nissan Versa had left the right side of the roadway, travelling through business frontage. It then collided with the Pittsburg Corning Building, at 2700 West 16th Street. This impact caused the Nisan to rotate and overturn, coming to rest on its top. The Veras had extensive damage. The driver of the Versa suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by PCAD. IT was determined on scene that the driver, who was not named in the report, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Officers and emergency crews were dispatched to the area of South Limit Avenue near West 18th Street Wednesday morning in reference to a vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Taras Timoshchuk of Cole Camp, was travelling northbound on Limit Avenue. It then struck the rear of a 2015 Chevrolet Spark, driven by Corey Bolling of Sedalia. The impact forced Bolling’s vehicle to move forward, where it struck the rear of a 2022 Ford Explorer, driven by Shelbie Bumgardner of Lincoln. The Volkswagen had heavy damage to the front end and was towed from the scene. The Chevrolet had moderate damage to the front and rear end, and was also towed from the scene. The Ford had minor damage to the rear bumper, and was driven from the scene. Bolling sustained minor injury, and was treated on scene. Bumgardner complained of minor injury, and was treated on scene.
