Sedalia Police Reports For August 26, 2022

Thursday night, Sedalia Police were called to assist the Center for Human Services, 1310 South Marshall Avenue. The call was in regards to an investigation with the Division for Family Services at the Bothwell Regional Health Center regarding a juvenile. The incident is under investigation.

Officers responded to the 300 block of East Chestnut Street for a report of a domestic physical disturbance in progress Thursday evening. Upon arrival, it was determined that a juvenile was involved in an incident with another family member. The juvenile left the residence without permission. The juvenile was located in the area and returned home. A general information report was taken for documentation.

In the early morning hours of August 22nd, Officers observed a vehicle with no license plate light. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Osage Avenue. The occupants were identified. After checking the occupant's information, the passenger came back with an active Parole Violation warrant with no bond on original charges of felony Burglary in the 2nd Degree. Shane Steven Ruth, 34, of Cole Camp, was placed under arrest. A search of Ruth's person was conducted, and drug paraphernalia was located. Ruth was booked and released for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and booked on his parole warrant, no bond. After asking the driver to step out of the vehicle, Officers immediately located drug paraphernalia in the driver's possession. Roderick R. Vose, 34, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle showed additional drugs and drug paraphernalia, along with items classified as weapons. Vose was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and felony Tampering With Physical Evidence.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of West 16th Street in reference to found property Thursday evening. Jeffrey S. McCrea found a license plate in the front yard of the residence. Officers attempted to contact the owner of the license plate. Contact was not successful. The plate was placed into evidence as found property.

Thursday evening, Officers responded to the 400 block of East 6th Street for a report of a physical domestic disturbance. Both subjects had minor physical injuries. A primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12 hour log report was completed to document the incident.

Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of South Grand Avenue Thursday afternoon for a report of a physical domestic disturbance. Officers spoke to a male subject inside the residence, and asked him what happened. The male explained that an argument started between himself and his son, leading to a physical altercation. A Juvenile Referral will be completed.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 800 block of East 4th Street for a medical call. The initial call reported a female subject had fallen outside and had injuries to her lower back, shoulder, and head. It was later determined the female fell out of a moving vehicle. A general information report was completed to document the incident.

Sedalia Police were assisting code enforcement with towing a pick up truck from the 2200 block of East Broadway Boulevard Thursday morning. Investigation revealed the vehicle's license plates were forged. The license plates were seized and placed into evidence.

Officers took a report in the Police Department lobby of fraud Thursday afternoon. Kimberly Hagen reported she lost her debit card the previous day, and her bank statement shows her card has been used since then. No suspect information was identified.

Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the Police Department lobby for a report of theft. The theft occurred at the Essex, 301 East 3rd Street. Dave F Palmer reported a ring was stolen from his room. The ring was valued by him at $3,000. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been located. A report was completed to document the information.

Officers conducted a subject check near the 200 block of East Howard Street on Tuesday evening. The subject was found to have two active Pettis County warrants and was arrested. Joshua Jay Quick, 31, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $7,750.00.

On the afternoon of August 24th, Officers located a driver's license at the West 50 Storage Units, 842 Mitchell Road. Officers attempted to make contact with the owner, but were unsuccessful. The driver's license was placed into evidence as found property.

Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a car for not signaling and having expired registration Tuesday evening. The stop was conducted near East 7th Street and South Summit Avenue. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the car. A search of the car found marijuana, which was seized for destruction. No charges were sought.
