Early Monday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the Ingram Auto Spa Car Wash at 2618 East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a burglary in progress. The business management observed a suspect on camera trying to force entry into the building by using a pry bar. Officers arrived and located two subjects how were quickly detained without incident. The investigation continued, and found damage to the business that was estimated to be over $760.00. A pair of gloves, a pry bar, and a mask was located near the business. The second suspect appeared to serve as the look out, while the accomplice pried on and damaged door locks. Logan N. Madison, 28, of Lincoln, was arrested on charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Property Damage in the 1st Degree. Zakary J. Seaman, 23, of Warrensburg, was also arrested on charges of Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Property Damage in the 1st Degree.


 

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Prospect Avenue in reference to a trespassing report. Rachael Monique Dement gave information on scene, and a report was generated.


 

Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance call in the 500 block of West Broadway boulevard Sunday morning. The incident was determined to be due to mental health issues. A subject was transported by Police to the BRHC to be assessed. A report was completed to document the incident.


 

Officers were approached by a subject at the Police Station who informed them that his friend was suicidal and heading to the railroad tracks. Other Officers and Pettis County Deputies thoroughly checked the railroad tracks. K9 units and a drone were used to find the subject, but they were not located. A report was completed document the incident.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, regarding shoplifters that were in the Asset Protection Office. Lachelle Rene Flores, 41, Tina Mae Hill, 47, and Michael S. Hill, 48, all of Sedalia, were all arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Hill, Flores, and Hill were released on scene with a city summons.


 

Sunday afternoon, Officers took a report of a stolen license plate from Taiven Thomas. The theft occurred in the 600 block of East 16th Street. Thomas stated they left their vehicle parked overnight, and when they went out to the car the next day, the license plate was missing. The plate went missing between August 10th and August 11th.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of a stolen firearm Saturday night. Gary Hanger stated that several firearms were possibly stolen from a residence in the 1900 block of South Washington Avenue. The firearms were possibly stolen between June and August 4th, 2024. There are no suspects at this time.


 

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, regarding a shoplifter that was in the Asset Protection Office. Douglas Lee Johnson, 52, of Smithton, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Johnson was released on scene with a summons.

Sunday morning, a call came in from the area of West Henry Street and North Grand Avenue regarding an injured animal in the roadway. Upon arrival, it was determined the animal had been struck by a vehicle. Due to its injuries, the animal was moved to the side of the road and discarded.


 

On the afternoon of August 6th, Police were called to the Shoe Sensation, 2700 West Broadway Boulevard, Suite C, regarding stolen merchandise. Upon arrival, information was gathered for a report and video footage was obtained. The suspect has not been located at this time.


 

Sunday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in regards to a theft. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the suspect and conducted an investigation. Staphanna S.C. Brown, 30, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Stealing. Brown was released from the scene with a summons.


 

Early Sunday morning, Officers responded to the area of West 16th Street and South Limit Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim stated she was being followed by her ex-boyfriend in a vehicle. She was instructed to drive to the Police Station. The victim had stated she got off work late that same night, and released the suspect was following her around down. She observed him swerving in the road, and saw him run a red light on State Fair Boulevard. That was when she decided to call the Police. Officers observed both vehicles travelling north on South Kentucky Avenue. Officers conducted a vehicle stop at West 3rd Street and South Kentucky Avenue. Officers made contact with the suspect in the parking lot, and could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages. The suspect admitted to following the victim because he wanted to talk to her. He said he was at the State Fair drinking alcohol, but said he had stopped a couple of hours earlier. After a series of tests, the suspect admitted he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages. He sated he had four beers and one ‘Four Loco.’ A breath sample on the DMT showed the subject had a BAC of .08. Barry C. Rivera, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol) and Harassment with the Intent to Frighten or Disturb Another Person. Rivera was given a cash or surety bond of $1500 cash only, and given instructions to have no contact with the victim.


 

On the night of August 9th, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a theft that had occurred. Upon arrival, Officers conducted an investigation discovered the suspect also had a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Wear a Seat Belt and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Kristi Renee Miller, 46, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Stealing and her two FTA warrants. Total bond on the two warrants combined to $60 cash only.


 

Sunday morning, Officers took a report of a hit and run crash that occurred approximately 5 minutes earlier in the vicinity of West 5th Street and South State Fair Boulevard. The victim driver, Austin Cole Marcum, stated he was uninjured. The suspect vehicle was not located.


 

On the morning of August 10th, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue. Officers made contact with the suspect, who had an active felony Pettis County warrant. In that warrant, the incident in question took place on July 17th. The suspect had caused a disturbance and began breaking glass windows on two doors the victim had just purchased. He also punched the victim in the head and pushed her down. The suspect returned a few moments after Officers had left, threatening to “set the house on fire” if she didn’t give him $30.00. The warrant carried charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. The warrant also had a cash or surety bond of $10,000. When the Officers attempted to serve the warrant, the suspect hid in an upstairs room. The suspect began throwing furniture at the Officers. He threw glass, furniture, and other heavy objects down the stairs in an attempt to keep Officers away. He then broke out an upstairs window and climbed out. He was given multiple commands to get on the ground and continued to refuse. Officers used an arm bar technique to “escort” the suspect to ground. He continued to resist. Brandon Lee Paxton, 32, of an unknown address, as arrested on charges of felony Resisting Arrest, Assault in the 4th Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Paxton was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold on his new charges, with bond on those set at $10,000 cash or surety.


 

Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Babcock Avenue on a vehicle that was failing to display tis registration. Upon further investigation, Officers discovered the driver was intoxicated. Casey Rodolfo Cossman, 20, of St Louis, was arrested on a charge of Failure to Register with DOR, DWI (Drugs) and Abuse and Lose Drug Possession Operating a MV.


 

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Olson Road for a report of a deceased subject. Upon arrival, Officers conducted an investigation with the assistance of the County Coroner. The subject was taken to a local funeral home.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Menard’s store, 4400 Wisconsin Avenue in reference to a past theft Friday evening. Officers arrived and made contact with management, who provided the necessary information to generate a report.


 

Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Limit Avenue. The vehicle had apparently been in a crash just before the stop, and the other vehicle involved had left the scene. The driver had no injuries, and a report was completed.


 

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, in regards to a theft. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the suspects and conducted an investigation. Karie A. Baldwin, 36, Homeless, was arrested on a charge of Shoplifting. Baldwin was released with a city summons. Robert Lee Smith, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of Shoplifting.


 

On the evening of July 31st, a female came to the lobby of the Police Station to report a threat. A report has been completed.


 

On the afternoon of August 6th, Officers were dispatched to the Family Center Farm and Home store, 1400 South Limit Avenue in reference to a theft that occurred earlier that morning. While taking the initial report, it was also reported the same suspect had stolen another item on July 29th. The suspect was eventually identified, and a third report of theft was taken by another Officer on August 2nd. The suspect was arrested by the other officer, and charges are being submitted. This story was previously reported by KSIS on August 8th.


 

Friday morning, a male subject came into the lobby of the Police Department and stated he was given a fake $100 bill in place of real money. The counterfeit bill was passed in the 1700 block of South Marvin Avenue.


 

Friday afternoon, Officers were called to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard regarding a possible domestic violence situation. Upon arrival, it was found one of the subjects, who the report notes is physically disabled, had a warrant for her arrest. The warrant was issued in July of 2024 on charge of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and Operating A Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Victoria J. Dolci, 43, Homeless, was arrested on her warrant and transported to the Petts County Jail. Bond was set at $100 cash only.
