Sedalia Police Reports For April 3, 2023

Saturday night, a car was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for improper lane usage. The vehicle also had no license plates. The driver was intoxicated by drugs, and methamphetamine was located in the car. The driver also had methamphetamine concealed on her person, and attempted to dispose of it in the back of the patrol car, but was unsuccessful. The suspect also introduced methamphetamine into the Police Station, and refused to provide a blood sample. A  search warrant was obtained to collect it, and she assaulted two law enforcement officers during the collection. April Diane Norman, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering With Evidence, Introduction Into a Jail Facility, and two charges of Assault on a LEO in the 3rd Degree. Norman was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Sunday night, Officers took a report of a violation of an order of protection. Officers met with the reporting party at the Sedalia Police Department. Officers made contact with the suspect at the residence in the 1000 block of South Murray Avenue. Felipe Efigenio, 65, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest without incident. Efigenio was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Violation of Full Order of Protection.

Sedalia Police responded to the Katy Trail overpass on South Limit Avenue Sunday night for a report of a male screaming. Officers contacted the male, and found he had a warrant from 2021 for his arrest. Nicholas Allen Howe, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested on his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, Driving While Suspended, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility. Howe was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $291.50.

Officers took a report Sunday afternoon in reference to a theft that occurred at the Planet Fitness, 3117 West Broadway Boulevard. The value of the items stolen was estimated at approximately $300. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Friday afternoon, Officers responded to the 700 block of East 14th Street in reference to a possible disturbance. The subject involved had already separated upon Officer’s arrival. Officers were able to make contact with both sides of the disturbance. One of the subjects had assaulted the other. The case was referred to the prosecutor’s office, but no arrests have been made at this time.

Sedalia Police responded to the Midas Total Car Care, 4411 Wisconsin Avenue, in reference to a theft report Saturday morning. Approximately $1,913 worth of items were stolen from the building. A report was made of the incident, but no suspects have been located at this time.

Saturday afternoon, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of South Grand Avenue and Clinton Road. Officers identified the driver as having a revoked driver’s license. After a search of the vehicle, Officers found drug paraphernalia. Jessica L. Griffin, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Griffin was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold.

Officers responded to the Missouri State Fair Fire Department, 2503 West 16th Street, for a report of burglary Sunday afternoon. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Robert B. Brown. Brown stated that sometime between February 12th and April 1st, someone stole $900 worth of property and caused $2,000 worth of property damage. A suspect was identified, but at the time of the report, had not been contacted for questioning.

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 6th Street in reference to a report of a physical disturbance. Officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. David Alexander Gonzales Juarez, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Juarez was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold.

Last Monday evening, Sedalia Police stopped a motor vehicle in the intersection of West Main Street and South Park Avenue for a moving violation. The driver was found to have no driver’s licesne, with one prior conviction for the same offense. Marvin M. Caal Choc, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested for No Operator’s License. Caal Choc was transported to the Police Station without incident for fingerprinting, and then given a citation with a court date.

Saturday morning, Officers stopped a van in the 2400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for failing to stop at the red southbound stop light on South State Fair Boulevard. The registered owner was also noted to be suspended out of the state of Missouri. Pablo Caal Choc, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. Caal Choc was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Late Friday night, Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of East 5th Street and South Lafayette Avenue because it was showing indicators of impaired driving. The vehicle had also failed to signal and was failing to maintain the right half of the roadway. Yamin Antonio Centeno Gomez, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Gomez was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Saturday morning, Officers stopped a car for speeding and failing to signal in the area of West 10th Street and Thompson Boulevard. The driver was in possession of an unidentified pill. The pill was seized for testing. Charges may be sought pending the analysis results.

On the afternoon of March 31st, Officers responded to the Skyline School, 2505 West 32nd Street, in reference to a hit and run accident. Officers spoke with Shannlyn R. Alexander, who stated her vehicle was hit in the parking lot while she was inside the school. A suspect has not been identified at this time.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Park Avenue in reference to a fraud report Friday afternoon. Officers spoke with Ladonna Wollard, who stated her disability deposit never appeared into her account. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Late Friday night, Officers responded to the Comfort Inn, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard, in regards to a domestic disturbance. When Officers arrived, an investigation was completed. The suspect had left the scene, however, and was located nearby. Keith Allen Lybarger, 37, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Lybarger was booked in pending charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree, Property Damage in the 1st Degree, Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, and felony Resisting Arrest. Lybarger was placed on a 24 hour hold.

Last Monday night, a car was stopped in the area of South State Fair Boulevard north of West Broadway Boulevard. The vehicle had no tail lights. The driver was intoxicated by drugs and in possession of paraphernalia as well as a controlled substance (psychedelic mushrooms). Michelle D. Petty, 43, of Green Ridge, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Psilocybin), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs).

Officers served a warrant in the 500 block of East 4th Street Friday night. A male subject was taken into custody without incident. The male had a warrant out of Pettis County for his arrest. Derek B. Hughes, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant for felony Assault in the 1st Degree on a Special Victim. Hughes was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $100,000 cash or surety bond.

Last Friday evening, Jonathan I. Quiroz reported a theft to Sedalia Police. Quiroz reported his cell phone was stolen while in the 800 block of West 16th Street. The cell phone has an approximate value of $1,000.

Sedalia Police responded to the lobby of the SPD Friday morning in reference to a previous theft report. Officers spoke with Brandon M. Moore, who stated an assortment of items were stolen from his vehicle. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Prospect Avenue in reference to a theft of a vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke with Ianharley Axel Boone, who reported his blue 2006 Toyota Sienna had been stolen from the residence. The vehicle had been left running with the keys inside at the time of the theft. The vehicle was entered into MULES as stolen.

Last Tuesday afternoon, Officers responded to the Family Center Farm and Home in reference to a theft. Approximately $1,750 worth of items were stolen from the business. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Sedalia Police responded the lobby of the SPD last Monday afternoon in reference to a violation of an Ex Parte. Officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated she received text messages from an individual she has an Ex Parte against.
