Late Sunday night, Officers stopped a van in the area of East 3rd Street and South Massachusetts Avenue for failing to signal a turn. The driver provided a false name, had no license or insurance, and was intoxicated by drugs. A search of the van revealed methamphetamine. Jessica L. Reed, 26, of Edgerton Kansas, was arrested and transported to the Petits County Jail. Reed was held on a twenty-four hold after being booked in on charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Driving Without a Valid License, Identity Theft, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine).


 

On the night of April 11th, Officers were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to take a report of an assault. Shelby L. Osburn, a Bothwell Employee, was grabbed by a patient, and red marks were left on her arm. The victim wished to pursue charges, and Officers are requesting a state charge of Assault in the 4th Degree (Special Victim).


 

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 500 block of South Grand Avenue Sunday night. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered one of the subjects had a Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County on original charges of Passing Bad Checks. Tristen Leavitt, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $250.00.


 

Sedalia Police performed an investigative traffic stop on a white Hyundai SUV Saturday night. The vehicle was registered to an owner that had a revoked Missouri driver’s license. The Officer also recognized the owner was driving the vehicle as Officers passed. The stop took place in the area of West 15th Street and South Missouri Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver, who was the registered owner. A check with Dispatch was performed, and the driver’s revoked status was confirmed. Naomi Suzanne Dalton, 52, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Dalton, however, was released at the scene with a municipal citation for DWR.


 

Sunday morning, Officers contacted Nyang Aiker in the lobby of the Police Station regarding a theft. Aiker stated he dropped off a woman in Sedalia, and the woman did not pay her cab fare. The suspect left behind a credit card, which will be entered to into evidence. Information was gathered for a general information report, as the victim did not wish to pursue charges.


 

Officers took a report in reference to a theft Friday afternoon. The theft was reported to have occurred at the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard. A $20 bill was left at the business. It was later discovered someone else had collected the money. The subject was identified and contacted. The money was returned to the owner, and no charges are being pursued.

Thursday morning, Officers took a report at the Police Station in reference to a violation of a court order. A suspect has been identified, and charges will be sent to the prosecutor for review.


 

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the Otten’s Small Engine, 2617 East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a domestic disturbance. On arrival, Officers contacted the subjects involved. A primary physical aggressor was determined. Uriah K. Otten, 32, of Otterville, was arrested for felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Otten was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Sedalia Police observed a vehicle Saturday afternoon driving in the area near West 5th Street and South Beacon Avenue. That same vehicle had been reported stolen two days before. A stop was attempted near West 4th Street and South Quincy Avenue, but the driver failed to pull over and kept driving. After a short vehicle pursuit, the driver of the vehicle pulled over and was taken into custody without incident. Vance Edward Slater, 37, Homeless, was wanted on a Benton County Parole Violation warrant on original charges of felony Tampering with A Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. Slater was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his warrant, as well as a new charge of felony Resisting Arrest. Slater was placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Officers responded to the area of East 3rd Street and South Lamine Avenue Saturday night for reports of a motor vehicle crash. One of the drivers was intoxicated by drugs. Jennifer Lin Woolery, 49, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Woolery was booked in on felony charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs – Persistent Offender), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Woolery was placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Friday evening, Officers responded to the 1200 block of South Carr Avenue regarding a warrant service. A subject was located inside the residence and placed under arrest without incident. Angie Marie Steeves, 41, of Sedalia, had a Pettis County Probation Violation warrant for her arrest on original charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Steeves also had ten Failure to Appear warrants from Cooper County on multiple traffic violations: Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility, Driving Without a Valid License, and Possession of or Displaying the License Plates of Another Person. Steeves was booked in pending a $2,000 cash and $2,500 surety bond on the Probation Violation warrant, and a total of $705 cash only on the Cooper County warrants.


 

Early Friday morning, a car was stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for moving violations. The driver was found to be intoxicated. Darin Jordan Johnson, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Johnson was placed under arrest, taken to the Police Department to be processed, and was then released to a sober driver with a citation.


 

Sedalia Police observed a truck driving westbound on Broadway Boulevard early Friday morning. Officers noticed that west of Prospect, the truck drove on the yellow line marking the center turn lane for several blocks. It then turned south on Warren, failing to stop prior to the stop line at the sign on West 14th Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop there. The driver was impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol. Vikas Bhardwaj, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Bhardwaj was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, and was then released to a sober driver.


 

On the morning of April 12th, Officers conducted an investigative stop in the 3800 block of East Broadway Boulevard. Officers suspected the driver to have a revoked driving status, and the status was confirmed. Heldart Apinis, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Apinis was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.


 

Friday evening, Officers responded to the Vermont Park, near the area of West 14th Street and South Vermont Avenue. Officers were investigating reports of an intoxicated subject sleeping at the shelter house. Once on scene, it was determined the subject was incapacitated enough to require safekeeping or treatment. Joe Sampson Jr., 38, Homeless, was taken into custody for Safekeeping. Sampson was then released to the Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Casey’s convenience store, 3050 South Limit Avenue Saturday morning. Officers arrived and spoke with Anthony L. Dorsey, an employee. Dorsey stated earlier that morning, a woman brought in a baggie with what appeared to be methamphetamine inside. She had reportedly found it in the parking lot. The baggie was collected, photographed, and placed into evidence storage for destruction. There are no suspects at this time.


 

On the evening of April 11th, Officers took a report in the lobby of the Police Station from Jennifer Tackett in regards to a violation of a protection order. A suspect has been identified, and charges will be sent to the prosecutor for review.
