Sedalia Police Reports for April 10, 2023

On the morning of April 9th, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of South State Fair Boulevard in reference to a domestic disturbance. A male involved in the disturbance had brandished a firearm. The caller stated an ex-boyfriend had attempted to get into her daughter’s apartment, trying to get in while waving a gun at them. The male left from the location on foot. A detailed description was obtained, and relayed to responding Officers. An Officer quickly arrived on scene and found the suspect a short distance from the original call location. The Officer could see the male was carrying a firearm near his waist. The suspect refused all commands to stop and show his hands. The responding Officer calmly spoke to the suspect, who revealed his intentions were to commit suicide. The Officer worked to build a level of rapport, which eventually allowed him to approach the suspect. The Officer was able to retrieve the firearm, which was handed to another Officer. The suspect’s demeanor quickly changed, and he became combative. Sedalia Officers struggled with the suspect for a moment, before gaining control and placing him onto the ground and into handcuffs. Neither the suspect nor Officers were injured in the incident. Ramon M. Jamerson, 26, Homeless, was arrested for felony Aggravated Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, felony Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Jamerson was ultimately taken to the BRHC to be admitted for psychiatric care.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive in reference to a reported armed robbery. An anonymous person called 911 and advised they had been robbed at gunpoint. The person provided a description of the subject, and advised he was running from the area. Unbeknownst to Officers responding, the caller was in fact initiating an emergency response in preparation to assault Officers in an apparent suicide attempt. A Sedalia Police Officer quickly arrived on scene and found the suspect walking in the roadway. He quickly put his hands in his hoodie pocket and refused all commands by the Officer to reveal them. The Officer attempted to establish rapport with the individual, but he was unresponsive. As the Officer slowly approached, the subject produced a knife with his right hand and attempted to stab the Officer. The Officer quickly closed the gap between them and was able to gain control of the suspect’s right arm while they both fell to the ground. At that point, the two were engaged in a struggle over the knife. Then, a citizen ran to the Officer’s aid and helped hold the individual down. Sedalia Officer, Pettis County Deputies, and Missouri State Troopers rushed to the scene and were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident. The Sedalia Officer sustained minor injury in the incident, with the knife having struck his patrol vest. The suspect was ultimately identified as a juvenile. He was transported to the BRCH for treatment, and then subsequently into DYS custody.

Sunday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue on a vehicle that had performed an improper turn. During the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a Failure to Appear warrant from 2021 out of Pettis County on original charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Ronda Simmons, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $5,000.

 
Friday morning, Officers conducted a warrant check behind the Econolodge, 3501 West Broadway Boulevard. Michelle D. Petty, 43, of Green Ridge, was arrested for a Henry County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Wear a Seat Belt. Petty was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $10.00.

Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Greenwood Lane in reference to harassment. When Officers arrived, they spoke to the caller. He stated the mother of his children had called him and his mother more than sixty times in less than an hour. A request for the charge of Harassment has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue for an improper turn Sunday evening. The driver of the vehicle had a revoked driving status. Juan Melendez Ayalo, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Revoked. Ayalo was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of South Grand Avenue early Sunday morning in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the victim had a serious physical injury to her head. The victim was transported to BRHC by PCAD for further treatment. Alfredo Carlos, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Carlos was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a theft. Dana Ragsdale reported an Amazon package was stolen off the front porch of the residence.

Sedalia Police, the Pettis County Ambulance District, and the Sedalia Fire Department were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Warren Avenue Saturday afternoon in reference to a drug overdose. The victim as unable to be saved after thirty minutes of life-saving measures were provided.

Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 5th Street in reference to a vehicle theft. The reporting party stated she believes her cousin stole her vehicle last night. The vehicle was involved in a four-car collision at West Broadway and Industrial Road. There was no further information in the report.

Officers responded to the American Inn, 1217 South Limit Avenue Friday morning in reference to a report of property damage. Upon arrival, Officers met with management in room 125. Officers observed the room had been ransacked and destroyed. Management provided the renter’s name and information, and state charges of Property Damage are being requested.

Friday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a theft report. Thomas Knight stated that sometime within the past year, several stadium seat arms and a lawn mower were stolen from a rental house in the 1600 block of South Park Avenue.

Officers met with Katelynn Hammond in the lobby of the Police Station Friday morning. Hammond stated she had provided a ride home to two subjects she met in a bar. After she dropped the subjects off, she noticed her purse was missing from inside the car. Hammond stated the purse contained her cell phone, debit cards, and $300 in cash. Names of the suspects were provided.

On the morning of April 4th, Patrick Sampson arrived in the lobby of the Police Department to turn in a phone he found near his property in the 500 block of East 14th Street. The phone has been placed into evidence.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Housing Authority Office for a report of property damage. Officers met with the caller in the 500 block of Welch Court. The caller stated that sometime between March 30th and the 31st, someone damaged a large pane of glass at the Housing Authority bus stop. The damage was estimated to be worth $300.00.

Thursday night, Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of South Stewart Avenue regarding a disturbance. The male subject was later identified and contacted, with charges of Peace Disturbance being submitted. No arrests were made at this time, and subject was not named in the report.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Cenex convenience store, 120 East 16th Street Thursday morning for a report of stealing. When Officers arrived, they spoke to the reporting party, Jason S. Geiler, who is an employee. Geiler stated earlier that morning, a white male appearing to be in his twenties stole $15 worth of items. He reportedly left in a light blue Audi four door vehicle. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been located.

On the afternoon of April 5th, Officers initiated a traffic stop near the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard. A check through Dispatch showed he did not have a valid driver’s license. The driver was arrested for that offense, and then a search of his person was conducted. Officers found Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Alprazolam. Nicholas Michael Plecnik, 30, of Long Beach California, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, felony Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, and two felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Sedalia Police Department executed a search warrant in the 400 block of East 7th Street. The subject was in the residence and taken into custody without incident. Tristen Michael Allen Fiedler Caviness, 19, of Sedalia, was arrested for felony Robbery in the 1st Degree, and felony Assault in the 1st Degree (Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim). Fiedler Caviness was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash or surety bond of $150,000.

Thursday afternoon, Sedalia Police took a found property report in the lobby of the Police Department. The complainant stated that a male subject brought a wallet into the Katy Depot and stated they had found it. Contact has not been made with the property owner.

Wednesday afternoon, SPD responded to the 600 block of South Lafayette Avenue for a report of trespassing. Upon arriving, contact was made with the suspect. Joe Sampson Jr., 38, Homeless, was arrested for Trespassing in the 1st Degree and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Sampson was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.
