A Sedalia man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday morning in Cooper County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a westbound 2007 Chevy Impala, driven by 42-year-old Christopher A. Newton of Sedalia, was on I-70, east of the 96.8 mile marker around 4:40 a.m., when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and into the median. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel back across the westbound lanes, down an embankment and across Chestnut Road. The Chevy struck a second embankment and came to rest north of Chestnut Road.

Injured was his passenger, 45-year-old Wesley D. Anderson of Sedalia. He was taken to University Hospital in Columbia with minor injuries.

Both occupants were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Chevy had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
