Sunday evening, Officers responded to the area of East Main Street and South Washington Avenue for a motor vehicle accident where the driver had fled the scene.

The car had struck and caused damage to a utility pole and the car sustained heavy front end damage. The driver fled.

After an investigation, the driver was located, found to be intoxicated, had no license, and provided a false name. Marco A. Velez, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Headquarters, then to the Pettis County Jail.

Velez was placed on a 24 hour hold on state charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Without a Valid License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Identity Theft.
