Sedalia Man Arrested In Stabbing Incident
Early Monday morning, Sedalia Police responded to Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street, to investigate a report of a subject who arrived at the hospital with a stab wound.
Upon arrival, Officers spoke to the victim. The victim stated he was at the location of the incident (which was redacted from the report), playing on the slot machines. He then stated the suspect came at him from the side and he felt a stabbing pain in his left upper arm.
The victim said he didn’t see what he stabbed with, and wasn’t sure why the suspect stabbed him, as he knew the suspect but was not friends with him. Officers located the suspect soon after, in the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue. He had a probation violation warrant and was placed under arrest.
The suspect denied assaulting anyone at first, but mentioned there was a knife on the floor of the business where he and the victim were fighting. The suspect said he picked the knife up and threw it along the Katy Trail.
Shane Steven Ruth, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of felony Assault in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action, and his Probation Violation warrant on original charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
