Everything We Know About Scotty McCreery’s New Album, ‘Seasons Change’
In 2011, Scotty McCreery won the 10th season of American Idol. Ever since that unusual start, his career has been anything but typical: From losing his record deal in February of 2016, to writing a book, to becoming the only country artist in history to have a charting single on the Country Aircheck / Mediabase Top 50 without the support of a label, McCreery defies expectations at every step of his career.
"In the last five years, I have grown from a teenager to a man, moved out on my own, lost my grandfather, proposed to the love of my life, and learned more about myself than I could have imagined," McCreery says.
In 2018, McCreery will release his new album Seasons Change, an autobiographical collection of songs about love, friendships, the loss of close relationships and learning to celebrate life. Read on to learn more about the project.
The aptly named Seasons Change, a personal account of McCreery's growth as both an artist and a person, will be the singer's first LP in five years.
The Release Date
While the album isn't due until March 16, official pre-orders begin on Jan. 12. Also, exclusive pre-orders for autographed copies of Seasons Change, along with merchandise options, opened on Dec. 20 on McCreery's website.
The Album Cover

McCreery's latest project was produced by Aaron Eshuis, Derek Wells and Frank Rogers. Rogers also produced McCreery's 2013 album See You Tonight.
McCreery initially performed the album's first single, "Five More Minutes," in 2016. Though he wasn't signed to a record label at the time, the song quickly became a grassroots fan favorite. In 2017, radio personality Bobby Bones debuted "Five More Minutes" on iHeart Radio's nationwide The Bobby Bones Show. Despite not having been released by a record label, the song won a massive fanbase for its emotional power and authenticity.
Just a short time after the death of his grandfather, McCreery wrote "Five More Minutes" about the moments in life that you wish could last forever. The song immediately connected with audiences everywhere.
"It gets me every time I sing it live, some nights more than others," McCreery told Nash Country Daily in a 2017 interview. "Almost every night we sing the song, it's like everybody is focused in on the lyric, remembering their own moments of their lives that they wish they could have five more minutes of."
On March 9, McCreery revealed "This Is It" as his second single from Seasons Change. The song tells the story of his and fiancee Gabi Dugal's proposal, and was written about a week before he popped the question.
In addition to the album's deeply personal first single, Seasons Change features 10 more tracks, all co-written by McCreery. A complete track listing is below.
"If you want to know who I am and where I'm at right now, listen to this album. I feel like I'm having a conversation with everyone that listens. It's that personal," McCreery says.
