The Jr. High Speech Team participated in the Bellarmine Speech Contest on Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Mary's in Glasgow, Mo., earning seven blue ribbons (highest awarded) and two red ribbons (second-highest awarded).

This was the first meet for the team and the first-ever competition for six members of the team. In the serious solo category, original works written and performed by Logan Howell ("Chocolate") and Cassidy Bentch ("The Great Debate") earned blue ribbons.

All three humorous entries earned blue ribbons. Thomas Jenkins performed "Doomsday Weather Report"; Sidnee City performed "ER"; and Eliza Noble performed "Strangers."

In the duet category Ryan Hill and R.J. Hladik took home a blue ribbon for their duet called "Colonization" and Olivia Dillon and Katherine Kehl earned a red for their duet called "Wait! Wait! Superhero!"

The team is coached by Liz Van Leer and assisted by Chelsea Turner.
