Last night, (Oct. 1) the Sacred Heart faculty and Smith-Cotton faulty went head to head at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the campus of State Fair Community College. Fans from both sides packed the stands and helped raise money for United Way. Along with the game, fans were entertained by cheerleaders from both schools, Smith-Cotton High Voltage, The SFCC Spirit Squad and the men and women Roadrunner basketball teams.

The rosters were packed with familiar faces for both teams. The "Blue team" consisted of Sacred Heart faculty and spouses. The "White team" hailed members of Sedalia 200 faculty and spouses. The game was competitive on both ends and it seemed like everyone involved had a great time. More importantly, I can report that there were no injuries.

The action didn't stop on the court: halftime was full of entertainment. The silent auction was a big hit, with many great items to bid on. Each cheer squad performed a few times. The Smith-Cotton High Voltage dance team put on a great routine and got the crowd up and moving. The final performance was from the SFCC Spirit Squad who kept the party going. During halftime, the crowd was also introduced to the 2013-2014 men and women Roadrunner basketball team. The crowd got to witness the skill of each team with numerous basketball skill competitions. The two ball challenge, three-point contest and some dunks at the end of the night were all part of the showcase put on by the men and women.

The game ended in a tie, with the final score being 129-129. The fans help raise a lot of money for the United Way. Thanks to everyone who was involved to make the night a success.
