Roadrunners Successful at Tri-State Shoot Off in Arkansas
The State Fair Community College (SFCC) shooting sports team racked up a lot of personal bests on October 26 and 27 at the Tri-State Shoot Off at the Remington Gun Club in Lonoke, Arkansas.
SFCC competed against three colleges and universities at the event. The event consisted of 100 American Trap birds, 100 Sporting Clays, and 100 Doubles Trap.
“It was a bit of a different program than what we’re used to,” said Head Coach Sarah Manuel. “The kids were excited to do something different.”
David Thomlinson, Hughesville, took second in Sporting Clays. Landon Schachtele, Armstrong, took third place in Sporting Clays. Alexander Hill, Belton, took first in American Trap. Ava Cooper, West Plains, took third in Sporting Clays, third High Overall Female and second place in Doubles Trap.
SFCC also took second place High Overall Fixed Squad with the squad of Mitchell O'Reilly, Belton; Austin Livengood, Crestridge; Alexander Hill, Belton; Ava Cooper, West Plains; and Gage Young, Pilot Grove. The squad of Schachtele; Thomlinson; Mason Rohen, Laddonia; Ben Woeland, Bunceton; and William Franklin finished third as a squad in High Overall Fixed Squad.
Coach Manuel has been pleased with her team this fall.
“We are going to use the winter to hone our skills,” said Manuel. “This team is very young, but it has really come together well.”
