Remember When the NBA was in Kansas City?

For those of you old enough to remember, Kansas once held an NBA franchise.If you remember such names as Nate "Tiny " Archibald, Sam Lacey and Scott Wedman, you've been on this earth a few years.  For those of you that don't remember, in 1972, Kansas City gained an NBA franchise, when the Kansas City-Omaha Kings - which had originated as the Rochester Royals, before becoming the Cincinnati Royals - relocated to the city from Cincinnati, Ohio. (If you are of an age that remember the Cincinnati Royals, you'll remember such names as Oscar Robertson, Bob Cousy and Happy Hairston.)

The Kings split their home games between Kansas City and Omaha, Nebraska until 1975, when the team began playing its games exclusively in Kansas City, shortening its name to the Kansas City Kings. In 1985, the Kings relocated to Sacramento California, becoming what are now the Sacramento Kings. 

In what would be the last home game of the Kansas City Kings, I saw my first and last Kansas City Kings game at Kemper Arena as they hosted Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers.
