It’s National Parks and Recreation Month. Join Sedalia Parks & Rec Saturday, July 17 for Parkapalooza and the Grand Opening of Moore’s Train House.

Bounce houses, games, food trucks, and more at the event. Wristbands for bounce houses and games can be purchased for $5 at the park office or the day of. The Liberty Land Train will be running 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for free train rides. Come meet the official mascot of the parks, "Libby the Squirrel."

 

Please note that the north parking lot behind Convention Hall will be closed starting at 6 a.m. Participants will not be able to exit the park using the back north parking lot. They will need to turn around and exit the park through the main entrance off of Park and 3rd or use the entrance and exit directly off 3rd street. This will be closed 6 a.m. 4 p.m. for activities and safety.

 

Interested in driving the train? Sedalia Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteer train crew members. If you are interested, attend the inaugural Conductor Club meeting on Saturday, July 17 following the Moore’s Train House Grand Opening at approximately 11 a.m. at Convention Hall in Liberty Park.

Meet our Trainmaster, Marty Harrison, and learn the rails to being a conductor and joining our Conductor Club. Volunteers will have to be at least 21 years, pass a driver’s license check, and pass a background screen.
